2018-10-05 08:52:37 UTC

Apparently she was asked if she wanted to be arrested.

2018-10-05 08:52:53 UTC

You need to get consent of course

2018-10-05 08:53:01 UTC

it would be rape otherwise

2018-10-05 08:53:01 UTC

Could have been one of those PR stunts.

2018-10-05 08:53:46 UTC

She looks like Ursula now.

2018-10-05 08:55:19 UTC

Staged arrest, all part of the political game

2018-10-05 08:55:30 UTC

Non-event

2018-10-05 08:56:14 UTC

What will they do once the FBI clears Kavanaugh and arrest Ford?
Will they care?

Scream into the sky

2018-10-05 08:56:57 UTC

2018-10-05 09:24:56 UTC

Until SJWs started to happen, I never know what people hated about the hippies so much.

2018-10-05 09:25:20 UTC

"Oh they were just about peace and stupid clothes? Jesus could you people stop being such shits over nothing?"

2018-10-05 09:25:25 UTC

No one went into this kinda detail.

Sweet fcuking christ why does pol gonna. E right all the time

2018-10-05 10:26:33 UTC

@Scribblehatch I don't think hippies were like sjws

2018-10-05 10:27:12 UTC

Since a ton of people who used to be hippies are super anti-sjw

2018-10-05 10:27:27 UTC

Like Christina Hoff Sommers

2018-10-05 10:28:25 UTC

People call me a hippy all the time. Just coz I want everyone to get along and don't want to piss around in other people business.

2018-10-05 10:28:28 UTC

Hippies are the people who sit on couches and do drugs, if you give them that, they're happy

SJW's sit on couches, rejecting drugs cuz they wanna be imaginary sick, and whatever you give them they'll be angry

2018-10-05 10:28:31 UTC

And the long hair.

2018-10-05 10:28:36 UTC

Hippie...

2018-10-05 10:49:54 UTC

@Poppy Rider take the offer, then thoroughly disassemble the thing

2018-10-05 10:51:24 UTC

Got a cow shed 50 yards from me. Could stick it in there. Fibre would be nice though.

2018-10-05 10:51:45 UTC

Think these are old ones with bugs that they can't sell so are giving away?

2018-10-05 10:51:59 UTC

50 yards is close enough that it'll pick up shouting

2018-10-05 10:52:28 UTC

Just take a heavy object and firmly apply it to the lizardtech

2018-10-05 10:55:04 UTC

2018-10-05 12:06:22 UTC

Are we a fan of the "Big if true" meme in the Tim Pool discord

2018-10-05 12:07:52 UTC

It's used.

2018-10-05 12:08:32 UTC

Place your bets. 100 page confession or slipped and landed on 3 bullets.

2018-10-05 12:10:35 UTC

"No we swear he's still in the consolate lol" - Turkey and probably China

2018-10-05 12:12:36 UTC

@Poppy Rider that shit is gonna narc on you

2018-10-05 12:14:22 UTC

@Rabbi Shekels I won't have a smart phone, I would never have one of those things in my house.

2018-10-05 12:15:42 UTC

Wait so you dont have a amazon echo ?

2018-10-05 12:16:22 UTC

No, It's an offer. Get a free echo with BT fibre.

2018-10-05 12:22:50 UTC

I was discussing Brett with a far left friend the other day. He gave me this link.

http://amp.timeinc.net/time/5416084/john-paul-stevens-brett-kavanaugh

2018-10-05 12:23:14 UTC

I read through it and came away with a far different take away

2018-10-05 12:25:20 UTC

He believes it says and the video shows that this ex scotus judge thinks Brett is biased and should not be chosen.

However when I read it I came away with the opinion that this judge thinks Brett is qualified. Just that when half of the country attacks him. He is no longer unbiased to half the country

2018-10-05 12:25:34 UTC

Ah John Paul Stevens, he's been rather politically active for a former justice recently. He's the one who thought we should get rid of the 2nd amendment

2018-10-05 12:25:48 UTC

You're probably reading it finer than your friend.

2018-10-05 12:30:22 UTC

It's hammer time!

2018-10-05 12:30:58 UTC

His response to my opinion.

Let us not argue about this, or other political things. I appreciate a bit of debate but as i said elsewhere, i dont support him because Trump.

2018-10-05 12:31:27 UTC

Lol. Yeah, that's logic for you.

2018-10-05 12:32:19 UTC

Wait, but bias is on part of the judge, not on part of people judging HIM.

2018-10-05 12:32:34 UTC

100% of the population can think him biased, but he still wouldn't have to be.

2018-10-05 12:32:48 UTC

Whether he is biased is in HIS application of the law, not someone's else's view.

2018-10-05 12:32:53 UTC

I am totally confused.

2018-10-05 12:33:12 UTC

"protect the institution from the perception of bias"

2018-10-05 12:33:22 UTC

From the perception of bias?

2018-10-05 12:33:29 UTC

I'd rather protect it from actual bias.

2018-10-05 12:33:35 UTC

Which is never going to really happen as long as the politicians politicize the nomination process.

2018-10-05 12:33:54 UTC

Yeah well, the news media has a bias that it wants implemented.

2018-10-05 12:34:02 UTC

It sure does.

2018-10-05 12:34:25 UTC

I'd rather have a fair judge that everyone thinks biased than the other way around.

2018-10-05 12:34:30 UTC

Agreed.

2018-10-05 12:34:43 UTC

Well, goodie gum drops.

2018-10-05 12:35:24 UTC

Unfortunately, the left tends (and has really always tended) towards "win by any means necessary" for some time and has politicized the courts for decades.

2018-10-05 12:35:33 UTC

And they'll fight over any ground they can.

2018-10-05 12:35:41 UTC

So they're fighting to control the courts.

2018-10-05 12:35:44 UTC

I am unsure what the negative outcome is from perceived court bias.

2018-10-05 12:35:51 UTC

Unrest.

2018-10-05 12:35:55 UTC

Much of it is is due to accepting equality of outcome.

2018-10-05 12:36:09 UTC

I think it's actually deeper.

2018-10-05 12:36:10 UTC

Equality of outcome was not even fair if I was the only one subject to it.

2018-10-05 12:36:28 UTC

It is due to a belief in "caring for the weak" and being morally justified in everything.

2018-10-05 12:36:29 UTC

If I did twice as much work than the year prior, I'd expect to get paid twice as much.

2018-10-05 12:36:38 UTC

you know fellas

2018-10-05 12:36:42 UTC

My pay does not even have to compare to anyone else's.

2018-10-05 12:36:43 UTC

sometimes Donald Trump is not that great

2018-10-05 12:36:56 UTC

"The right sees the left as wrong; the left sees the right as evil."

2018-10-05 12:37:07 UTC

Equality of outcome is one of the most harebrained economic models you could choose.

2018-10-05 12:37:15 UTC

It only sounds fair to a toddler.

2018-10-05 12:37:16 UTC

As such the left believes it is the hero and will do anything it needs to win.

2018-10-05 12:37:37 UTC

Equality of outcome for unequal work means that whoever worked harder got less per unit of time!

2018-10-05 12:37:42 UTC

Actually, it doesn't even seem fair to toddlers. We have experiments proving toddlers hate equality of outcome.

2018-10-05 12:37:56 UTC

It's only fair to statisticians, bureaucrats and academics

2018-10-05 12:38:10 UTC

Who more or less control everything these days.

2018-10-05 12:38:15 UTC

But, basic arithmetic is not the strong suite of so-called egalitarians.

2018-10-05 12:38:24 UTC

Oh, and HR types and Union faithful.

2018-10-05 12:38:39 UTC

Wait, so even toddlers don't like it?

2018-10-05 12:38:51 UTC

Nope. They believe in something usually called "fairness" in the literature.

2018-10-05 12:38:55 UTC

What are we doing to so-called adults to miswire their brains that badly then?

2018-10-05 12:39:10 UTC

Which is closer to equal rewards for equal precieved effort.

2018-10-05 12:39:16 UTC

Which is what most adults want too.

2018-10-05 12:39:18 UTC

offer them "free money"

2018-10-05 12:39:26 UTC

Yes, that I can have some sympathy for.

2018-10-05 12:39:54 UTC

Equality of outcome is very convenient for people who do statistics (it's relatively easy to test) and bureaucrats (you get paid on the plan)

2018-10-05 12:40:07 UTC

I think equal rewards for equal perceived effort is evil

2018-10-05 12:40:10 UTC

I think there are also very strange misperceptions of where prices come from.

2018-10-05 12:40:15 UTC

It's also convenienent for people who don't really want to work or otherwise obsess over equality.

2018-10-05 12:40:22 UTC

Yes PERCEIVED effort, that would be a bad thing.

2018-10-05 12:40:28 UTC

But not as bad as equality of outcome.

2018-10-05 12:40:40 UTC

Your perception might be off, but at least you are TRYING to do the right thing.

2018-10-05 12:40:42 UTC

The vast majority of people don't have even a cursory understanding of economics.

2018-10-05 12:40:52 UTC

CA and NYC are looking at rent control again, for example.

2018-10-05 12:41:02 UTC

With equality of outcome, you are not even TRYING to do the right thing.

2018-10-05 12:41:12 UTC

Equal reward for equal value generation.

2018-10-05 12:41:29 UTC

So the thing about perceived effort is that people don't even realize it's the perception.

2018-10-05 12:41:31 UTC

Yes, and that comparative value is measured through prices.

2018-10-05 12:41:50 UTC

If two things have the same price, it is supposed to mean that, by and large, people would be willing to exchange the two.

2018-10-05 12:42:43 UTC

And if it is not the case for you, you can exchange the thing of higher price for cash and buy the other item that is priced the same, but which you value less.

2018-10-05 12:42:46 UTC

If they believe that there is good reason to trust what people say about effort, they'll bite.

The problem is that "equal effort for equal reward" (the actual ideal) is marred the fact specialization hides the effort alot of people put into things and the fact that not all labor is equal.

2018-10-05 12:43:06 UTC

Capitalists trust price signals. Communists don't.

2018-10-05 12:43:12 UTC

Heres a missing concept people often overlook

Leftwingers see "time spent" as the value
Rightwngers see "resource contributed" as the value

If a person works 1 hour on a machine, to create 10x the product
One side wants them paid for 1 hour
The other wants them paid 10x for the resource

And since they see Rich people as working just as long as minimum wage people
Equality of outcome seems fair to them

2018-10-05 12:43:24 UTC

I often hear the rhetoric question "How do you put a price on X?" Well, the same way you put a price on anything else!

2018-10-05 12:43:34 UTC

Competitive bidding

2018-10-05 12:43:55 UTC

Kind of.

2018-10-05 12:44:13 UTC

The value of a thing is whatever people would be willing to exchange it for.

2018-10-05 12:44:14 UTC

@Dr.Wol It's worse than that. You know why the USSR and China didn't get along? Mao believed agricultural labor was more representative of the working class. Stalin believed that was industrial labor. They didn't get along.

2018-10-05 12:44:25 UTC

And that's endemic everywhere on the left.

2018-10-05 12:44:31 UTC

It doesn't matter if the monetary price has a few more zeroes or not.

2018-10-05 12:45:02 UTC

You can print as much money as you want, but in a decently working market economy, things of equal value will end up with around the same price.

2018-10-05 12:45:18 UTC

Alright you guys, start fightin'.

2018-10-05 12:45:28 UTC

We're trying.

2018-10-05 12:45:32 UTC

Michigan Union types think Californian Actors Guild members are lazy bumfucks who get all the accolades for doing nothing valuable. The Californain Actor Guilds think the Automakers union members are deplorables.

2018-10-05 12:45:33 UTC

But we haven't had enough beer, yet.

2018-10-05 12:45:46 UTC

And where are the ice cubes to throw at each other?!

2018-10-05 12:45:48 UTC

This should help.

2018-10-05 12:45:51 UTC

What kind of mosh pit is this?!

2018-10-05 12:45:58 UTC

@Undead Mockingbird Exactly. Money isn't the important signal. It's all in the relative pricing of resources.

2018-10-05 12:46:05 UTC

Right.

2018-10-05 12:46:09 UTC

The economy is a distribution system. Not a money system.

2018-10-05 12:46:41 UTC

people have a different concept of money

Some see it as a commodity, if you have lots of money you can do a lot, you can print it, you can steal etc its just an object with value

Others see it as a compensation of work

2018-10-05 12:46:51 UTC

If there are 4 coconuts on an island and there are $100 in circulation, each coconut is worth $25. If there's $1000, they each are worth $250.

2018-10-05 12:47:06 UTC

Is the sand worth nothing

2018-10-05 12:47:13 UTC

Is labor worth nothing?

2018-10-05 12:47:21 UTC

the coconut is as much worth as i'm willing to pay for it

2018-10-05 12:47:27 UTC

Can you get new coconuts?

2018-10-05 12:47:37 UTC

How much labor do you have to invest to get a cocounut?

2018-10-05 12:47:42 UTC

That's your cost of labor.

2018-10-05 12:47:54 UTC

Good luck opening the coconut in such a way that you keep all the milk.

2018-10-05 12:48:00 UTC

Right.

2018-10-05 12:48:00 UTC

This gives the rocks worth.

2018-10-05 12:48:05 UTC

Gotta find a good rock.

2018-10-05 12:48:16 UTC

And there's the complexities of real world markets coming in.

2018-10-05 12:48:23 UTC

But it's not like we just pick prices.

2018-10-05 12:48:31 UTC

That's why it's so hard to centrally plan price signals.

2018-10-05 12:49:04 UTC

thats because central planning revolves around assuming people will pay for a fixed price

2018-10-05 12:49:24 UTC

What we just hashed out packs more understanding of economics into the space of two pages than the entire knowledge of Marxist economies.

2018-10-05 12:49:35 UTC

It also assumes the cost of production is entirely predictable, for every product in the field you control

2018-10-05 12:49:42 UTC

Yes.

2018-10-05 12:49:51 UTC

Marxism has no economy

2018-10-05 12:50:22 UTC

This is why Hayek calls it hubris. There's no conceivable way that a central authority can know the intimate details of every transaction to the point where they aren't throwing darts at the proverbial board

2018-10-05 12:50:29 UTC

this is why all those commie people / ideas in business always fail

2018-10-05 12:50:32 UTC

Entirely blind lol

2018-10-05 12:50:35 UTC

Well, what if there was?

2018-10-05 12:50:42 UTC

Have you guys seen Death of Stalin. lol

2018-10-05 12:50:43 UTC

Let's say we have enough computing power to do so.

2018-10-05 12:50:53 UTC

Let's write a computer program that perfectly allocates resources.

2018-10-05 12:50:53 UTC

I've been tempted to go watch it

2018-10-05 12:50:58 UTC

The Marxist Dream Machine!

2018-10-05 12:50:59 UTC

I can't argue on the base of "what if there was"

Cuz you can apply that to anything

"What if there was no corruption"

2018-10-05 12:51:00 UTC

But I don't really watch movies much

2018-10-05 12:51:04 UTC

It's like a classic Monty Python film.

2018-10-05 12:51:09 UTC

There's even a python in it.

2018-10-05 12:51:12 UTC

What would it do? It would just end up simulating a free market economy.

2018-10-05 12:51:22 UTC

A complete redundancy.

2018-10-05 12:51:32 UTC

Well no, they want the ability to curb stuff they don't like

2018-10-05 12:51:36 UTC

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/463054787336732683/497752719101263882/2908b679-2085-4e42-a18a-86b54d1376ed.png

2018-10-05 12:51:40 UTC

That's the whole point of it

2018-10-05 12:51:41 UTC

And, anyway, we use plenty of algorithms to predict market prices already.

2018-10-05 12:51:54 UTC

Yes, but stuff they don't like is part of the market.

I don't like that people spend hundreds of dollars on a Britney Spears concert.

2018-10-05 12:52:19 UTC

But that's not a failure of capitalism.

2018-10-05 12:52:28 UTC

It's a moral failure.

2018-10-05 12:52:38 UTC

It's your mom's failure.

2018-10-05 12:52:39 UTC

Lol

2018-10-05 12:52:40 UTC

No disagreement there.

2018-10-05 12:52:46 UTC

๐Ÿ˜จ

2018-10-05 12:52:50 UTC

You can't talk about me mum like that.

2018-10-05 12:52:52 UTC

Take it back.

2018-10-05 12:52:55 UTC

people spending hundreds of dollars on Britney Spears concert is capitalism at work

2018-10-05 12:52:56 UTC

Actually, that's one of the things people miss.

2018-10-05 12:52:59 UTC

Okay, I take it back.

2018-10-05 12:53:03 UTC

>moral
It's just shit taste

2018-10-05 12:53:04 UTC

We spend more on entertainment than healthcare.

2018-10-05 12:53:05 UTC

Phew.

2018-10-05 12:53:10 UTC

But somehow healthcare is the problem.

2018-10-05 12:53:12 UTC

Your mom is a powerful and strong womman. Stunning and brave.

2018-10-05 12:53:23 UTC

Its the very definition of capitalism,

People work, put in labor, and get paid,

And then spend that money on what THEY wanna spend it on.

Free market at work

2018-10-05 12:53:30 UTC

I am Canadian so I disagree with that assessment

2018-10-05 12:53:33 UTC

Even though I think if you stopped someone in the street if Hollywood or the hospital was more important, almost all of them would prefer the hospital.

2018-10-05 12:53:38 UTC

You saying scribbles mom is a liar?

2018-10-05 12:53:42 UTC

Yes, but Canadians don't count.

2018-10-05 12:53:42 UTC

Which assessment?

2018-10-05 12:53:42 UTC

You can't talk about me mum like that either!

2018-10-05 12:53:57 UTC

We keep you savages up north for a reason.

2018-10-05 12:53:59 UTC

Spending more on entertainment than healthcarr

2018-10-05 12:54:17 UTC

I was agreeing with scrib. People pouring stupid amounts of cash to watch Britany Spears is a moral failure.

2018-10-05 12:54:22 UTC

US spends more on medical than we do iirc

2018-10-05 12:54:32 UTC

Yes.

2018-10-05 12:54:36 UTC

Per person?

2018-10-05 12:54:39 UTC

How is it a moral failure?

2018-10-05 12:54:39 UTC

But we still spend even more on entertainment.

2018-10-05 12:54:48 UTC

Many people compare absolute numbers, which is very wrong.

2018-10-05 12:55:00 UTC

But only one of these is under the gun for "costing too much"

2018-10-05 12:55:02 UTC

You always have to compare per capita.

2018-10-05 12:55:09 UTC

Right but Joe was saying "as a Canadian". We spend even less on medical

2018-10-05 12:55:19 UTC

I spend more tax dollars proportioned toward health care and paying the cigarette tax for my mother in laws habbits than I do on entertainment.

2018-10-05 12:55:27 UTC

Probably a proportional amount on entertainment. Concert tickets get fucking nuts

2018-10-05 12:55:30 UTC

How is it a moral failure?

Its their money

2018-10-05 12:55:33 UTC

Yes, but are Canadians really the same species? Should we compare them to humans?

2018-10-05 12:55:40 UTC

It's not absolute down to the last person

2018-10-05 12:55:43 UTC

I don't compare my vet to a medical doctor.

2018-10-05 12:55:49 UTC

go fuck yourself

2018-10-05 12:55:50 UTC

:)

2018-10-05 12:56:00 UTC

2018-10-05 12:56:04 UTC

It's a general assessment

2018-10-05 12:56:20 UTC

Overall entertainment gets more cash than many much more important things
