and don't go pointing at SJW's, cuz they want to sacrifice other people, for the good of themselves/anotehr group

2018-10-26 13:25:05 UTC

A societal framework without capital would be pretty ineffectual, yeah.

2018-10-26 13:25:21 UTC

I only have Saturdays off work so I'll have to make that my Sabbath

2018-10-26 13:25:36 UTC

The government doesn’t take taxes, so where does it get its resources to function? War. The nation is in a constant cycle of warfare simply to destroy and subjugate in order to collect resources, be it new citizens or general scrap to fuel themselves.

2018-10-26 13:25:42 UTC

So, self-sacrifice is the primary quality by which you gauge human virtue, Wol? That's certainly interesting.

2018-10-26 13:26:09 UTC

A societal framework without capital only works if you have replicators 😁

2018-10-26 13:26:13 UTC

What other qualities would you define as virtuous I'm just curious

2018-10-26 13:26:21 UTC

haven't properly thought that through, but it would be what i'd go on for the time being

2018-10-26 13:26:34 UTC

You don't have right to sacrifice others, all you can do is sacrifice yourself

2018-10-26 13:26:38 UTC

@I AM ERROR what if you have FTL, you wouldn’t need replicators

2018-10-26 13:26:54 UTC

You could fly anywhere and take anything from anyone.

2018-10-26 13:26:57 UTC

With enough effort.

2018-10-26 13:27:05 UTC

thats what good parents do for example,

They'll sacrifice their time, energy, money and effort that they earned, to give to their children so they can make their choices in life

2018-10-26 13:27:14 UTC

Specifying strangers means you're basically just measuring a human's level of empathy with the entire human race.

2018-10-26 13:27:26 UTC

Still need effort for that, replicators just give you stuff 😁

2018-10-26 13:27:43 UTC

Yes but

2018-10-26 13:27:47 UTC

Plus what do you do when youve took all the stuff

2018-10-26 13:27:51 UTC

Replicators have to have some mass to form into what you want to form

2018-10-26 13:27:55 UTC

well i'd specify strangers as a virtue, because sacrificing yourself for your own gains is life, not virtue

2018-10-26 13:28:09 UTC

It can’t just come out of nowhere without violating the law of conservation of matter

2018-10-26 13:28:09 UTC

A good parent sacrifices for the opposite of a stranger, they're providing for their blood continuation.

2018-10-26 13:28:16 UTC

The fruit of their own loins.

2018-10-26 13:28:21 UTC

yes but thats life

2018-10-26 13:28:22 UTC

not virtue

2018-10-26 13:28:34 UTC

You're not virtueous for doing what you're supposed to do

2018-10-26 13:28:42 UTC

Virtue is going above and beyond the regular.

2018-10-26 13:28:42 UTC

Physics is just a social construct 😝

2018-10-26 13:28:42 UTC

Imagine

2018-10-26 13:28:49 UTC

A united humanity

2018-10-26 13:28:49 UTC

But you just said parenting was the virtue you're talking about, Wol.

2018-10-26 13:28:53 UTC

You're really confusing me.

2018-10-26 13:28:58 UTC

Only for humanity to become the bad guy.

2018-10-26 13:29:08 UTC

As an example of what self-sacrifice is

2018-10-26 13:29:10 UTC

Are you not supposed to sacrifice for a stranger?

2018-10-26 13:29:12 UTC

this is such a gift to the republicans and trump

2018-10-26 13:29:15 UTC

Then why use it as a moral measurement?

2018-10-26 13:29:19 UTC

when was the last time the news talked about russia?

2018-10-26 13:29:35 UTC

supposed to? i wouldn't know, but i'd say that if you do it, you're a virtuous person

2018-10-26 13:29:40 UTC

good point, has been a while since anyone even mentioned the investigation

2018-10-26 13:29:44 UTC

A while, which is I suppose a small bandaid for their credibility.

2018-10-26 13:29:44 UTC

yup
