Gynocentrism is a word that has existed since the 19th century.

Academia shifted to the left because we didn't care.
Most institutions shifted to the left, because the left tends to be more collective.
Collectives have an easier time taking over institutions.
You can see the same pattern among many corporations. Most of them were reasonably conservative and later shifted to the left, as they got nicer.
Another example are cities. Once they are nice and work well, it attracts other people who want to benefit from nice, clean spaces.
Or, take Europe for example.
You can also draw parallels with the Big Five personality traits.
