Is that why almost every military, government and police force on earth uses it?

2019-12-19 18:44:50 UTC

Military and law enforcement stopped using the .45 as a standard round in the US a while ago.

2019-12-19 18:45:11 UTC

You can still find some using it, but not with standard issued guns.

2019-12-19 18:47:20 UTC

By that logic, we should switch to 7.62x39 over 5.56.

2019-12-19 18:52:18 UTC

By that logic, do away with pistols, lets have all LEO's carry .50 BMG's.

2019-12-19 18:59:06 UTC

9mm is fun

2019-12-19 19:12:42 UTC

tbh military and law enforcment has entirely different reguirements for calibers.

and if military was using optimal caliber they would have adapted 6.5mm, instead of keeping 5.56. , but thats way more complicated than that.

2019-12-19 19:19:59 UTC

and when it comes to why military and law enfocement is using 9mm.

in case of military it need to be just powerfull enoght to do the job, and be abel to carry as much ammo as possible.

and law enforcement basically need that same just powerfull enought, so it doesnt overpenetrate and cause harm behind the target, if you need to shoot in crouded place.

but as self defence stopping power is everything, and after that comes practicality.
sence in if you get jumped on, you dont have too many shots or time.

2019-12-19 20:49:32 UTC

Well with law enforcement, it isn't about carrying as much as possible at all.

2019-12-19 20:49:42 UTC

They only usually carry 2 mags on them.

2019-12-19 21:13:34 UTC

let me rephase that.
law enforcement uses same standard of "just powerfull enought", sence too powerfull caliber would add risk of injuring bystanders.
for example shooting outside someones house, too powerfull caliber would add risk of penetrating wall and injuring/killing someone inside of said house, where smaller caliber would stop in that wall.

and law enforcement doesnt want bullet to penetrate body, sence that would only add risk of hitting someone behind target.

And same issue with added risk of ricochets.

and law enfocrement tries enters sitsuation at safe distance.
but when you get jumped on you dont have that same advantage, and need as much stopping power as practical.

2019-12-19 21:14:45 UTC

I get that.

2019-12-19 21:15:08 UTC

Just carry a sawed off on you at all times.

2019-12-19 21:15:15 UTC

It's easy since it's winter.

2019-12-19 21:15:20 UTC

Hide it in the jacket.

2019-12-19 21:47:38 UTC

Is that celsius or fahrenhoidle?

2019-12-19 22:16:26 UTC

Fahrenheit

2019-12-19 22:23:48 UTC

@Justin Burger (Major-GA) it was 35° this morning down here

2019-12-19 23:00:05 UTC

I was further down than you anyways.

2019-12-19 23:00:18 UTC

So it was warmer where I was.

2019-12-19 23:04:48 UTC

This guy does impressive stuff.

2019-12-19 23:04:58 UTC

Same guy with Old English instead of High German.

2019-12-19 23:30:08 UTC

I watched a good video on, "could I understand middle ages English if I traveled back in time"

2019-12-19 23:30:22 UTC

In short, you could maybe understand half if you tried.

2019-12-19 23:30:39 UTC

The other half would be completely unintelligible.

If we go to war with a black nation, do laws of war still stand since they are arguably non-human?

2019-12-20 07:18:19 UTC

That might count as animal abuse or cruelty though.
