I am incredibly happy about the Afghan war ending, don't get me wrong, but this is another example of how an advanced, world class super-power can't beat guerilla tactics, and in the end will lose, "muh K/D ratio" that doesn't matter even 1% if you lose the war and the enemy meets their goals, the Afghan government will not be able to hold off the Taliban once the deal comes into effect, no amount of tanks, jets, bombs, or troops can fully suppress an openly hostile people, short of destroying the whole nation, but that is simply not feasible or wanted, or even a thought in a military leaders mind, like if they nuked their own citizens, they would be the rulers of nobody, no cities, no infrastructure, no resources, no workers and no country.

A committed and overwhelmingly popular rebellion has *never* lost to a government, because you cant simply kill an idea.

afghanistan will always be the graveyard of empires, the fact that the US government thought a prolonged war was ever a good thing is baffling and an example of their arrogance and hubris
