Ah
Was about to ask
Besides, it isn't like the feudal Christians were that much better
But Persia was always Iran @Uksio; Persia is just what the Greeks called Persia
And that spread to the Wes t
KEEP THE BLOODLINE PURE
@xorgy Rip Tumblr
To be fair, the Hapsburgs were an exception to the general rule of medieval marriage, and even back then cousin marriage was a sin: it’s just corrupt church officials allowed it
With enough bribes
@Emperor of USA Duuh, no shit Sherlock. But what i mean by that is the period of their prosperity when they were effectively secular trade empire, and not a religious zealot state
Yeah but Iran came to have this new common western name under the Pahlavis that turned it into a secular trade empire
And they are not that any more
Modern Iran is *far* from secular. As theistic of a state as they come.
Ofc; were talking about the last Imperial Iranian dysnatyv
Did you just badmouth the feudal Christians and then link a picture of Charles II?
I myself am not too fond of secularism and prefer a pluralist state over a secular, theistic, or atheistic one.
This is some awesome stuff
It is now hate speech to criticize the government
Ironically the “oppressive” Pahalavis were one of the most secular states in the Middle East
You know... I saw that coming Zuihou.
A state is better off maintaining a religious stance while allowing the existence of any and all other religions that share the same fundamental values.
If they can criminalize hate speech, what is stopping them from making the government a protected class.
If I remember correctly the Mohammad Reza Shah even gave the population dividends of the oil industry
The line between secular and pluralist is fine, and I would argue the United States is a judeo-christian pluralist state, not a secular one.
My elite privlidge
Though he was still an oppressive dictator that was heavily influenced by American oil companies
what does judaism have to do with the US?
Any ideology can become dictatorial or tyrannical if those that follow it make the mental leaps.
imo, the US is a christian nation
I would say that it is overall, but it is compatible with judaic ethics
The laws for both come from the same source
jews dont really fit in with the free speech part
@Dusty Morgan what about ideologies focused on decentralized power?
Actually United States were founded on secular ideals, but the founding fathers were Christians with a few that are Atheist.
Many jews believe in free speech
They agreed that religion when mixed with government is bad.
oh yeah? what about criticizing israel?
