No, if you've got night vision they're pretty much the only way you can aim

Nah it works with nods, pretty much like a big glowy line you use to zap a target

When I was in the army we only used them for cqb. They wouldn't hold a zero past 20 meters

We only used them to "rope" a target for air support while on convoy at night

They had practical uses as well but I'd run the illuminator in cqb. Just left of the muzzle shadow was point of impact
