People from the protected western cultures don't even have the ability to imagine the evil some people have to deal with on a daily basis. You see it in the way some tourists are just absolutely naive about safety. Being safe in the way we South Africans are alert and aware is just not part of the coddled western people's frame of reference, and to try to explain it to them usually just end in them not understanding at all or thinking you are some conspiracy nut-job.
