Literally anything that can shoot down incoming nukes would solve the problem.
they're working on lasers for that
Cool.
Are MRA's against suicide?
I think there are MRA's for and against euthanasia, which is what you mean as opposed to suicide. The fact that suicide is prevalent amongst men is used to point out that men are having problems in society and the way they are treated by it. Euthanasia by itself isn't a mens rights issue
While righttodie is something that would disproportionately affect men, I think the first thing that has to be looked at is "why the heck does this issue affect mostly men in the first place?"
I think that is why it ends up as an MRM issue. For instance, why are men more likely to be sleeping rough than women? It isn't all just a matter of government programs
Those issues are treated similarly in the MRM
And both are ~70% male
yeah, tent or sleeping bag
on the ground
As opposed to other forms of homelessness that involve actual beds mostly
That's kinda the point, though
There isn't necessarily anything wrong with sleeping rough. Generally though, people would want something better, though the reason they are sleeping rough is because they don't have the choice of better
And the situation leading up to it is bloody uncomfortable
So it's a men's rights issue
But a really complicated one
Same with suicide
Perhaps. I think eventually it will be. But MRAs are diverse. We can all agree that men have a suicide problem. I'm not so sure we can all agree on /r/sanctionedsuicide
I agree with it
but hey
There's a pretty big difference between the mostly and the whole here
IIRC none of the other MRM issues are controversial within the MRM, with the sole possible exception of intactivism
And that's not anywhere near as controversial as righttodie would be. And it may be the case that most of the gender difference on this issue could end up being gotten rid of as mental health conditions for men improve.
I'm pro life.
Guess I'm anti suicide but
I think the state shouldn't have any say in that
No not religious reasons I'm agnostic
Not necessarily
I'm still against it
In that
I prefer no one become that desperate
And also
It depends on the situation to
If someone suicidal because they're depressed and medication might help
Then I can see the case for the state intervening
To get the individual help
But let's say it's not a condition that can be cured
Or say somebody is facing something like homelessness or a horrible disease
