Flipping out isn't unique to religion either

2019-01-29 19:04:08 UTC

Actually, Patriarchy is the new name for black men

2019-01-29 19:04:25 UTC

They really just expanded it to all men and removed black women. It functions the same way

2019-01-29 19:05:07 UTC

You could add there are elements of conspiracy theory, but they started off by saying ruling structures are patriarchy

2019-01-29 19:05:38 UTC

I didn't explain that well, lol

2019-01-29 19:06:06 UTC

Basically - patriarchy theory is the root of toxic masculinity

2019-01-29 19:06:12 UTC

Progressive politics function *exactly* like a cult, and have all the defining characteristics.

2019-01-29 19:06:20 UTC

*INCLUDING* shunning.

2019-01-29 19:06:23 UTC

Not exactly like one

2019-01-29 19:06:41 UTC

But the militants do have a degree of similarity

2019-01-29 19:06:49 UTC

They lack the core figure

2019-01-29 19:07:04 UTC

WHat is the "core figure" to you?

2019-01-29 19:07:23 UTC

I agree they are a lot like other secular cults.

2019-01-29 19:07:44 UTC

Well, Stalin. Basically. Or that guy who ran Scientology

2019-01-29 19:07:46 UTC

They are not "a lot like," they *are* a cult.

2019-01-29 19:08:20 UTC

If you want to argue they're not, you need to give a list of things that differentiate the two.

2019-01-29 19:08:26 UTC

I'm not disagreeing with you

2019-01-29 19:08:55 UTC

I'm basically saying that there is a secular cult, and then there's a lot of people who think they are in it but really aren't

2019-01-29 19:09:17 UTC

You could call them first circle initiates if you want. But for me, it's a little too lose to call the whole movement a cult

2019-01-29 19:09:49 UTC

Rad fem definitely is a secular cult - no doubt about that.

2019-01-29 19:10:20 UTC

But, as I said, they are an ideology - not a religion.

2019-01-29 19:10:55 UTC

Sorry if this is coming out a bit disjointed, I'm very tired and and I still have a lot of work to do tonight

2019-01-29 19:11:27 UTC

I should really pick this up later, but I think comparing them to racists is a good strategy.

2019-01-29 21:04:05 UTC

I mean yeah, if you target-swap anti-male statements of course it's going to sound closer to racism

2019-01-29 21:04:57 UTC

There are a number of reasons I see it closer to religion

2019-01-29 21:06:08 UTC

Feminism is basically a base set of ideals but the individuals are able to interpret and apply those ideals as they see fit, same deal with religion, there's no real consistency from individual to individual

2019-01-29 21:07:29 UTC

In religion, if you denounce (insert religion's god here) you are to be damned for all eternity. When it comes to feminism, if you denounce their ideals, you might as well be damned

2019-01-29 21:11:06 UTC

Comparing it to racism is a very good way to point out particular instances of man-hate

2019-01-29 21:11:47 UTC

But I've never seen a racist be able to excuse themselves by saying "I'm not against black people, I'm just pro white"

2019-01-29 21:12:15 UTC

("I'm not against men, I'm just pro women")

2019-01-29 21:12:59 UTC

Yeah. Tell a feminist that "I'm not against women, I'm just pro male." See how they respond.

2019-01-30 13:55:58 UTC

"Feminism is basically a base set of ideals but the individuals are able to interpret and apply those ideals as they see fit," is literally a secular ideology.

2019-01-30 13:56:38 UTC

Denouncing ideals is not unique to religion. It's a factor in all ideologies.

2019-01-30 13:57:38 UTC

And they absolutely do say "we aren't against black people! We just want them to go back and live in their own country!" @Mush

2019-01-30 14:32:05 UTC

its veyr hypocritical that the same feminists who say its not up to men to define feminism are the ones who use terms like mansplaining and "decide" how the MRM actually is

2019-01-30 14:34:36 UTC

Oh yes. It's all about controlling the argument. If you are the only one who is allowed to speak, then you can say whatever you want. It's the kind of power-move Putin makes where the truth doesn't matter. That's why they define everything in metrics of power.

2019-01-30 14:56:32 UTC

I'd also say it is due to how many women are used to discussion and social group. If you can shame and ostracise somebody and 'other' them within your group of friends they are excluded. In my experience at least, most men are more accepting of differences. You don't need to agree to respect someone, nor does disagreeing with someone make you respect them less. I do agree it's strange how much feminism is able to propose/say/comment on when it comes to men, when replacing 'men' with any other group would be deemed very racist.

2019-01-30 14:57:02 UTC

Imo the element of unhinged misandry within feminism will destroy it eventually,, the question is more what will happen in the meantime as the pendulum resets.

2019-01-30 15:28:32 UTC

I have a hunch they will try to stall by claiming that every MRM victory is, depending on what it is, either a feminist victory or an outright attack on women.

2019-01-30 15:38:03 UTC

Let them whine.

2019-01-30 16:03:05 UTC

It's not so much the whining I'm worried about, but their ability to present that as fact and use it to undermine our movement
