My dad's a seafood technician with 30 years experience; almost all fresh water fish have parasites in them and shouldn't be eaten raw and aren't typically used for sushi anyways

Hokkaido salmon isn't great for sushi because of the parasite issue, so Japan imports a lot of farmed and wild-caught salmon

Point is though, good ingredients cost a lot; avoid cheap sushi and cheap seafood in general
