I have a conspiracy theory: Whenever there is a new term in town to label people with (let's say "alt-right" or "libertarian") and people label themselves with it because they support the ideas, the authoritarian left usually tries to subvert that label into something bad. So what if we just didn't label ourselves at all (I'd probably invent a new direction here)?

for example, I noticed this with this one video of libertarians going on about selling drugs to kids and now everyone that labels himself as libertarian is automatically a drug dealer

Let's label ourseleves

"Jellos"

2019-01-25 00:17:02 UTC

I'll do the logo

2019-01-25 00:17:17 UTC

baaah

Jelloes have no set beliefs other than making the MSM put the word Jello in their articles

2019-01-25 00:18:32 UTC

Are you suggesting that 'libertarian' is a recently invented word?

Ofcourse he isn't

It's been co-opted

like Classical Liberal

2019-01-25 00:19:14 UTC

How?

2019-01-25 00:19:30 UTC

no, not really, it's just the same thing happened with the term "alt-right"

2019-01-25 00:20:11 UTC

over used until it did loose all practical meaning

basically if you say you are that, secretly you have a shrine to hitler in your basement

Churchill was Classical Liberal but that doesn't matter

We are now Jellos

2019-01-25 00:20:50 UTC

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the supposed subversion of 'libertarian'

2019-01-25 00:20:56 UTC

Who?

2019-01-25 00:20:58 UTC

Where?

I'm co-opting the word Jello here, who knows?

2019-01-25 00:24:07 UTC

I think the alt-right kinda sold themselves out.

2019-01-25 00:24:30 UTC

don't apply your new term too liberally, though, otherwise it's not going to mean anything either. in fact one might argue it doesn't mean anything already.

The only invented term was Liberalist

and that was roundly rejected around these parts

2019-01-25 00:33:30 UTC

well, now it's turning into a churn of labels. First it was "republican" / "conservative", then you have "classic liberal" and now "libertarian". basically because the left labeled everything as "alt-right" then, now its turning into a mush of labels and even I have a hard time figuring out what side I even stand on because there are so many labels now, but the nuances are rather small

Libertarian has been around for a while. Reagan was grilled on calling himself libertarian.

2019-01-25 00:34:48 UTC

what if we call ourselves black jewish homosexuals? then they have to turn that into a bad thing <:makes_you_think:382980749780844554>

2019-01-25 00:34:54 UTC

It goes back further than that

2019-01-25 00:35:06 UTC

Yep.

2019-01-25 00:36:52 UTC

Just call us aliens and be done with it

2019-01-25 00:37:00 UTC

or maybe I'm just talking trash here, but here's the thing I noticed about youtubers at least:

- sargon says he's liberal
- tim pool says he's liberal
- Dankula says he's libertarian
- Steven Crowder says he's conservative

And they agree on a lot of points, so idk where to even draw the boundaries anymore between "conservative" and "classic liberal".

2019-01-25 00:37:01 UTC

we may as well be aliens to the ctl-left

2019-01-25 00:37:23 UTC

@fschutt How old are you?

2019-01-25 00:37:26 UTC

all these political terms are relative, subjective and meaningless.

2019-01-25 00:37:41 UTC

they're all just normal people

2019-01-25 00:37:50 UTC

I can literally draw circles on the political compass for these terms

I'm the same label I was 10 years ago, when Sargon was working in an office 🀷🏿

Conservative and Liberal can be very close, or very distant. It is a spectrum.
