I think "gender politics" and "romantic comedy" are pretty much the same thing.

2019-01-24 23:53:33 UTC [/r/SargonOfAkkad (Sparta) #general]

also, hello everyone

2019-01-24 23:56:43 UTC [/r/SargonOfAkkad (Sparta) #general]

does sargon ever talk about sjw bullshit at tech events? would be pretty entertaining to have his opinion on this topic.

2019-01-24 23:58:30 UTC [/r/SargonOfAkkad (Sparta) #general]

tim did a video once when the linux coc thing went down, but I mean that was merely the tip of the iceberg

2019-01-25 00:04:24 UTC [/r/SargonOfAkkad (Sparta) #general]

yeah it's just really wide spread at this point. last year I interviewed at a startup and made the mistake of scrolling through their blog a bit and found this article about saying "it's so easy my mom can do it" is sexism: <https://asquera.de/blog/2013-05-23/my-mum/> - in case you guys want to have a laugh

I have a conspiracy theory: Whenever there is a new term in town to label people with (let's say "alt-right" or "libertarian") and people label themselves with it because they support the ideas, the authoritarian left usually tries to subvert that label into something bad. So what if we just didn't label ourselves at all (I'd probably invent a new direction here)?

for example, I noticed this with this one video of libertarians going on about selling drugs to kids and now everyone that labels himself as libertarian is automatically a drug dealer

I'll do the logo

no, not really, it's just the same thing happened with the term "alt-right"

well, now it's turning into a churn of labels. First it was "republican" / "conservative", then you have "classic liberal" and now "libertarian". basically because the left labeled everything as "alt-right" then, now its turning into a mush of labels and even I have a hard time figuring out what side I even stand on because there are so many labels now, but the nuances are rather small

or maybe I'm just talking trash here, but here's the thing I noticed about youtubers at least:

- sargon says he's liberal
- tim pool says he's liberal
- Dankula says he's libertarian
- Steven Crowder says he's conservative

And they agree on a lot of points, so idk where to even draw the boundaries anymore between "conservative" and "classic liberal".

I'm not that old. I mean I can vote (although I choose not to), but I don't spend most of my day on politics, so I'm not very well-versed on politics.

but this got me thinking: dankula considers himself a libertarian, but would you? Or is he also a "classic liberal"?

I mean, if you can draw circles, that would actually be pretty helpful. Because at least for me this "spectrum" is more or less turning into a complete mush of labels.

I find it very weird that people argue that building a wall doesn't work when it literally worked for 40 years in Germany. I mean, on a technical level.

msm is always talking about the wall as if it was someones garden and downplay the significance of it.

what do you think about the shutdown? I think it's just hilarious how little importance the government has on regular life. Wonder if this is going to be a new world record. govt constantly thinks it's oh-so important but nobody actually misses it when it's gone.

not that I'd argue for complete anarchy, but I do think the current situation is pretty hilarious.

Yeah, well I used to work for the (well, not american) government and comparing their work to the free market is like comparing a snail to a ferrari - 90% of people who work for the government spend most of their day just drinking coffee. It sucks for the workers, but then again, they chose to work for the government.

I mean sure it sucks for them not getting paid

but that's little different from the free market sometimes you're not getting paid there either

So a few videos ago, Sargon asked "How do we resist big tech censorship?" - I am a programmer myself and I thought about that. I came up with a plan / theory for an alternative, censorship-free internet, an "Alternet" if you will, that basically takes the idea of P2P torrenting and simply applies that concept to websites - https://pastebin.com/a1HNRLgL

2019-04-04 17:22:58 UTC [Sparta #general]

Would be nice to know what you think

2019-04-04 17:25:13 UTC [Sparta #general]

Yes, but in browser form and for websites, not for chatting. Similar to IPFS or what BitChute is doing with their video platform. Professionally I work on browser engines (well, almost), from my point of view it's technically possible, but a shitload of work.

2019-04-04 17:27:59 UTC [Sparta #general]

Basically, the idea is that by using the browser, everyone is a seeder and a leecher at the same time and content gets transmitted in a distributed way, so that you can't be held responsible by law for distributing "offensive material" - because technically you didn't distribute all of it, just a single data packet and you can't be arrested for that

2019-04-04 17:32:19 UTC [Sparta #general]

Well yeah, but they'd need your private key (if you're the owner of a URL) in order to change anything on your site. Yes, clients could modify their local copy of the data, but that would be fairly easily preventable with checksums or similar, to verify that the local data hasn't been tampered with

2019-04-04 17:32:49 UTC [Sparta #general]

Yeah, at the current state of politics I wouldn't hold my breath though

2019-04-04 18:08:08 UTC [Sparta #general]

@Antiboom if you don't know what geocities is get off the server you fucking zoomer

2019-04-04 18:08:23 UTC [Sparta #general]

but yeah, thanks for the hint @Fitzydog

2019-04-04 18:09:51 UTC [Sparta #general]

a generation-z boomer

2019-04-04 18:42:48 UTC [Sparta #general]

also today I noticed that BitChute has picture-in-picture support in their player

2019-04-04 18:45:34 UTC [Sparta #general]

maybe, but even youtube doesn't have that feature

2019-04-04 18:46:13 UTC [Sparta #general]

I mean, I can watch videos while having a code editor open, I don't even have to have a browser tab open
