anyways, what do you recommend for someone who has worked with pure bodyweight all his life?

gym will have to wait, no way to get to it, however I do have a 22kg bar
basically the lack of access to a gym is why I sticked to bodyweight

But bodyweight is also doable to get in good shape

I used it when I couldn't afford weights and I got good results
I do bodyweight and it indeed worked, but I have a 22kg bar just lying around there
And in that case you might be able to load more weight into a backpack
