I get what your saying, but the math seems to be that an attempt and an actual dead body are separate.
pretty much what micamike is saying
I think we should just get rid of the prison system and permenantly exile anyone that commits the big three. Theft, murder, or rape.
1. Premise: Recidivism is a real and incurable phenomenon
2. Premise: Thieves, murderers, and rapists are a threat to civilized society
3. Conclusion: NEW TV SERIES DEBUTING ON FOX THIS FALL!!! DEVIL’S ISLAND!!!! REAL CRIMINALS, REAL DRAMA, REAL FUN!!!!
Seriously. I see nothing wrong with this.
Bring back the Colosseum.
I just wish there was a way to remove all doubt surrounding the veracity of a conviction. If we knew with 100% certainty that an individual committed cold blooded murder it would be great if we could save all the time and money with a 115 grain, 12 cent solution
But as long as we can’t be 100% sure we can’t do that
We should at least have the option available for the instances where it's 100% certain.
Of course. Like these high profile mass murders should essentially be “what say you? Guilty. *bang*. Next.”
That’s far too efficient for government.
Problem there is that too many cases would suddenly become "100% certain"
Set an objective standard. There needs to be proper video evidence.
Exile only works if you control your borders
Lots of deported criminals just return.
Ten years hard labor for anyone caught crossing the border illegally. Add ten years for every additional offense.
Not if they’re exiled to an island broadcast every Tuesday and Friday on Fox this fall
@Deleted User so basically bring back indentured servitude?
No, when your sentence is over you go back home.
I mean that's 90% of the guardian shit that gets linked all over
most of these media institutions are just opinion pieces without good citations for the factual claims made therein and jumping the gun on "breaking news"
I laughed when they made it seem like post birth abortions were a boogyman.
i'm not opening a "the Guardian" link
If anything this wave of abortion bills are in directly caused by Virginia.
i refuse to give them my clicks
This came before Virginia
crap
That actually makes me very sad.
Sentencing should be based on intent not outcome
Intent cannot be proven.
Outcome many times can.
And the percentage of accuracy, wether its 100% or 95% really depends on what you think humans are worth. Personally i would put human worth at a lot less than the cost of lifetime imprisonment
If you cant prove intent but can prove negligence, then the punishment should be lesser
The abortion article is a joke, "look the exagerate the number of late term abortions" then "their real goal is to hold women accountable for miscarriages" i.e. they are bad for outlining outliers now look at my outlier
The people that cite rape, incest and health of the mother as the reasons abortion should be legal are bitching about exaggerating numbers? Fucking LOL
that's pretty silly, considering that the bills explicitly target doctors, not expecting mothers
from that guardian article: *There are the old lies, like the ones suggesting that the women having abortions are careless hussies (51% of abortions are to women who were using contraception; 59% are to women who are already mothers; 75% are to poor and low-income women). Lately, there’s a huge new lie making the rounds, that women and doctors are conspiring to kill babies at birth and calling it abortion.*
Those stats don't disprove the accusation. 49% weren't using birth control (also how many were using it correctly and at the time of conception), being a mother doesn't mean you weren't sleeping around, being poor also doesn't mean you weren't sleeping around.
Also, the second part isn't a lie if the governor of virginia (a doctor) was literally making the case for it on a radio show.
