This article bugs me so much. Specifically, the skit quoted from Michelle Wolf.
_โI am gonna throw my pen down on the desk, and Iโm gonna shake my head in crestfallen bewilderment. Iโm gonna look you in The Eye, and Iโm gonna tell you that Trump is bad!,โ she cried. โChildren in cages, gun reform yesterday, nevertheless I persisted, this is comedy now. And finally, the meticulously crafted clippable GIFable takedown that will fix everything, change minds, and save the republic.โ_
She's one of the fucking comedians doing this whole 'activism masked as comedy' shit. Do comedians nowadays really not understand that you can't do something unironically while trying to make fun of it at the same time? It just comes off as insanely disingenuous.
and hopefully about as successful in their careers, too
unfortunately, in the anime voice acting industry in the west, your options are pretty much Funimation or Sentai Filmworks
has Sentai said anything in regards to this?
do they even have any shows where he's working on the dub?
yeah, I heard about that, at least a little bit
I couldn't watch more than a few minutes of that show back when I saw it
the walk animations were clearly characters sliding across the ground with a walk cycle that didn't match the speed of movement
it drove me nuts
new verse, same as the first at most, I suspect
like, maybe some rebranding, but I seriously doubt that we'd end up with a radically different pair of parties
(and even then, not likely)
well, I know which side I'm on now :^)
That sounds like something right out of a scene with PC Principle in South Park
I know it's from a few days ago, but did anyone else watch the Rubin Report interview with James Lindsay and Peter Boghossian?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97FuO-hEhQo
any thoughts? I think it's kind of both concerning and good that people who are CLEARLY pretty left leaning like Lindsay are still stopping and saying "whoa, whoa, we've gone _way_ too far"
Neel's a damn treasure
He's the guy that did this video a few years back that made some waves
yeah, that was so bizarre
I mean, expected, since they're leftists
but Lindsay going off on how trump is a "disaster" just made me have to stop listening and focus on work for a while before going back to it
(I think it was him, wasn't it? I was listening to it on audio, so I'm not sure)
yeah, frankly I think that the love for trump by his core fanbase is overblown
I think he's done a lot of good stuff, but I also have had plenty of issues with him
signing that 1000 page bill in just a few days ago being the most recent example
whose view, Lindsay?
based on what he said in that interview, at least, no, it doesn't sound like he's recognized that trump has achieved ANYTHING good
maybe that's because of the format
but he came off as thinking that trump has been literally one of the worst presidents in history
^this, pretty much
I think the term Lindsay used was "an unmitigated disaster", wasn't it?
did thye "lose" it in a trash compactor?
it's because kids invoke a more visceral reaction in us
it makes it easier to prey on peoples emotions when you have them associate a kid with your message
pretty much. It's gotten to the point where I'll inherently distrust a message initially if the person putting out the message feels the need to use children to get it across
jesus christ, the first guy interviewed in that fleccas video
"he wanted to show a problem in america; that's why he did it"
no you idiot, if it were a problem in america _he wouldn't have to fake a fucking hate crime_
that's a great quote
@AC says sub to PewDiePie The main problem is that there are way too many entrenched leftists in our state. Unless we can figure out a way to get people that blindly vote for the left no matter what (usually because they wholehearted believe "conservative = bad") to flip, there's very little that can be done. I've tried having conversations with my friends to show them that there are a lot of conservative viewpoints that they can agree with (well, unfortunately, some of them are full on socialists so NOTHING I can say will convince them to vote conservative), and they still end up just buying the DNC's line of "Republicans are evil".
And don't even get me started on the governorship - that's literally going to be impossible to flip for any of us that live upstate (I'm in the Rochester area). I was watching the bloomberg map during the election back in November - the governor was decided literally before any votes outside of NYC were counted.
Regarding the Chicago thing - I don't understand why people keep voting in the same officials (or others that share the same views) when they've done little to nothing to actually fix the problems that have existed for decades, now
regarding the captain marvel thing, since when are PG-13 movies "for little girls and boys". And since when is "fuck boys; girl power!" supposed to be good for little boys to look up to?
oh lord, it's a writer for the mary sue
that explains a hell of a lot
well, yes, but can't people just be, like... a bit less dumb?
is that too much to ask?
(I know it is, but let me have hope)
yeah. The answer for Chicago definitely isn't just "go vote republican blindly" either
I guess I have to give it to the people that voted in those socialists... they're technically voting for something kind of different
it's basically just a more extreme version of what they've already got, but it's SOMETHING different
and in my state we made 3rd trimester abortions legal >.> RIP living in western NY
what the hell school did you go to for that to be the case? I went to college for game design (ended up not really helping with what I'm in beyond generally being tech), and it was about 80% programming courses, 15% animation courses, and like... at best 5% design
apparently, jesus. I consider my degree to be a bit of a waste, but at least it wasn't fucking THAT
it's basically free money for the schools - people want to go into game development because it looks like a dream job from the outside
hell, at my college, we had an issue where the administration team bloated the number of slots year after year
by the time i graduated, it got to the point where there weren't enough professors to actually teach all of the core classes on a consistent basis
there were some courses that were REQUIRED for the degree that would be taught once a year
(and they would fill up within a few minutes of registration being open)
that wasn't a problem at my college. All of the professors that were there, had been there since the game design masters degree was going on at the college, which was about 4 or 5 years before I started college
sounds about right
@C1PHER There was a rumor that my degree had the highest dropout rate in the college. In one of our first courses with the guy that was the head of the department, he admitted to spreading that rumor himself to scare off people that didn't actually want to do work ๐
it's similar to learning a new language, honestly. If you do well learning languages on your own, yeah - learning programming on your own would probably just work out better
yeah, there were some crazy talented people in my program that actually went into game development. The rest of us went elsewhere in the tech industry
like, I know one guy that ended up being an assistant producer at bungie. He's still there, afaik
oh hey, speaking of Captain Marvel and stupidity
NEVER ENOUGH FOR THEM
(daily dot's left leaning, correct?)
(I honestly can't remember the last time I read any of their articles. This was just posted on a different Discord I'm on)
what a "surprising" conclusion
oh right, but of course it's still the women and minorities that need help in getting raises at their jobs. Because of course it is
I'm only part of the 10%. How disappointing
...I just noticed that their twitter handle is "what's my int score"... I feel like people should go start trolling them with D&D jokes about them having a low intelligence
I would, if I used twitter, but...
seriously, I had to doublecheck the URL to make sure it wasn't a Babylon Bee story
"we'll also shame the men that don't want to be drafted either, because it's their duty to go to war" needs to be remembered also ๐
on the one hand, @SpanishAbbey , yes. on the other, there were 24% of the people voting in that primary that _thought she was a good choice_
(or at least the best choice available)
we had a very similar scare on my campus with the same type of umbrella back when I was in college
though I think they at least correctly identified that it looked like a sword, if I remember correctly
either way, it was pretty, uh... dumb
oh look
a white as snow californian
what a fucking surprise
oh, and apparently trash gay furry novels are his thing
yeeeees! I used to play sim ant all the time after school when I was a kid. Also played the Chex Quest game constantly
my personal favorite RTS is Rise of Nations, though
what little I've seen of him does seem to portray him as pretty down to earth now
I remember seeing a video of him getting mobbed by paparazzi outside of his house a few years ago
and when he got into his car and was being driven off, one of the paparazzi got hit by the car (it wasn't going fast, so it wasn't particularly bad, but still, probably hurt quite a bit), so he had his driver stop and he got out to personally make sure the guy was ok
and basically called out everyone that was mobbing him for not caring about the guy
jesus christ, some of the comments on that video are fucking insane, you weren't kidding
I'm on a discord server where one of the people on it floated the conspiracy that _someone on trump's team set it up as a way to "district" from trump_
people will find ANY reason to blame him for literally fucking anything
which I find stupid either way, because Trump's obviously NOT an ethnonationalist
of course, no matter how many times you say that, they don't listen
The fact that someone said this unironically is both hilarious and scary:
"Lesson: Chavez was not hardline enough. Give the one percent an inch and they take a mile.๏ปฟ"
