that's to do with its followers maybe

2019-08-15 21:10:36 UTC

in some parts of the world where there is war

2019-08-15 21:10:37 UTC

Islam has had trouble progressing past 600 AD

2019-08-15 21:11:12 UTC

oh and muslims want me dead

2019-08-15 21:11:15 UTC

thats a big one

2019-08-15 21:11:24 UTC

Islam hasn't changed which makes it true traditionalism maybe but then that becomes a question of why traditionalism is wrong

2019-08-15 21:11:41 UTC

doing something simply because its tradition is dumb

2019-08-15 21:11:46 UTC

tradition does not automatically mean good

2019-08-15 21:11:52 UTC

there are plenty of bad traditions

2019-08-15 21:11:56 UTC

also if we're discussing Islam then what Muslims do/subjectively want is irrelevant in this

2019-08-15 21:12:26 UTC

Yes but traditionalism isn't necessarily bad

2019-08-15 21:12:49 UTC

so do you think the killing of homosexuals and women who don't conver is wrong?

2019-08-15 21:12:54 UTC

wife beating?

2019-08-15 21:13:22 UTC

the killing of homosexuals is if its done publicly, I don't think anyone likes to see two people having intercourse in public

2019-08-15 21:13:39 UTC

its done to protect society from degeneracy

2019-08-15 21:14:01 UTC

if you're gay then you can continue being gay as long as you keep it behind closed doors

2019-08-15 21:14:09 UTC

no one has any right to spy on you either

2019-08-15 21:14:28 UTC

i don't think thats what happens in the middle east...

2019-08-15 21:14:34 UTC

The role of the church is to provide an example of objective morals within a society. Even as we speak, the tenants of Christian values are evident in the way the majority of American conduct. If I had to pick a church that the state would promote, it would be a toss up between the LDS faith (due to its heavy emphasis on family values and that the family is eternal) or the Cosmothesists (since they think in terms of eternity rather than the instant gratification of the individual).

2019-08-15 21:14:56 UTC

The issue today is that the middle east isn't actually ruled according to Islamic law

2019-08-15 21:15:16 UTC

they take certain aspects of it and apply it, but in reality its secular

2019-08-15 21:15:23 UTC

>that isn't the true islam

2019-08-15 21:15:36 UTC

every Muslim ever

2019-08-15 21:15:45 UTC

I'm not making the commie excuse of "its never been applied" if thats what you're implying

2019-08-15 21:15:51 UTC

sometimes i feel like Muslims are as divided as Christians

2019-08-15 21:16:05 UTC

If you want to know Islamic law then look at the previous caliphates that applied Islamic law

2019-08-15 21:16:23 UTC

Ottomans, Ummayads, Abbasids and the list goes on

2019-08-15 21:17:01 UTC

Ottomans for example had many non Muslims living under them

2019-08-15 21:17:13 UTC

many cities had non Muslim majority

2019-08-15 21:17:36 UTC

if they were so oppressed living under the Muslims then how did they last for hundreds of years

2019-08-15 21:17:53 UTC

Conquest, same as the Roman empire

2019-08-15 21:18:12 UTC

The moment they stopped expanding, it fell apart.

2019-08-15 21:18:44 UTC

Anatolia was ruled by the Ottomans for hundreds of years yet had non Muslim majority in many parts

<@&588707615643795456> -Daily Question

Do you think that within the century we will see the rise of a new major religion? If so, what do you think that religion will be

2019-08-18 18:02:28 UTC

@Bruni you need to go into server settings, roles, at the bottom is the religion role, edit it so it can be pinged, then tag it, once u tagged it go back and disable it's ping so users don't spam the tagb

2019-08-18 22:42:42 UTC

I doubt it

2019-08-19 08:30:30 UTC

i would say we already have in the 20th century. a lot of new age religions that have sizable followings. i dont see any reason for people to stop this century. in fact the dehumanization of many modern developed societies might push more people to religion, both old and new age ones.
