It costs the rich money

2019-12-22 00:24:31 UTC

Cope

2019-12-22 00:24:56 UTC

The worship of money is the root of all evil.

2019-12-22 00:25:05 UTC

Who cares if it means taxes.

2019-12-22 00:26:49 UTC

Well personally I think everyone deserves a chance for care(except those who commit bodily harm on purpose, or get hurt doing the same thing multiple times, because at that point you really should just stop doing whatever that thing is..). But I also think that every worker deserves fair reward for their labor.

2019-12-22 00:28:01 UTC

Rewarding the worker for their effort is fine but rampant individualism is what got us into this mess in the first place.

2019-12-22 00:28:12 UTC

Hmmmm

2019-12-22 00:30:11 UTC

healthcare is a public service

2019-12-22 00:30:15 UTC

or should be

2019-12-22 00:32:03 UTC

I am not even certain how do both private and public healthcare work. Even if we set aside the moral arguments for or against public healthcare, there is also the question of efficiency, innovation, and cost in the long term. @ChillyWilly

2019-12-22 00:32:35 UTC

there are many effective, and ineffective version of public healthcare

2019-12-22 00:32:40 UTC

An example in favor of a privatized system is in the sector of laser eye surgery. A few decades ago, it was incredibly expensive. The price for laser eye surgery has decreased by magnitudes. What used to be at least $20k when under the government's thumb has dropped to less than 25% of that after years of innovation and privatization.

2019-12-22 00:32:54 UTC

just socializing it willy nilly won't make people suddenly healthier

2019-12-22 00:33:20 UTC

For example, should we sacrifice efficiency for the sake of lowering the cost and increasing access to the public?

2019-12-22 00:33:29 UTC

it should follow a system that is like on Germany.

2019-12-22 00:33:33 UTC

2019-12-22 00:33:45 UTC

Germany's socialized healthcare is a good model

2019-12-22 00:34:05 UTC

its probably the best example

2019-12-22 00:34:27 UTC

@ChillyWilly An example against private is drugs

2019-12-22 00:34:29 UTC

I dislike the British NHS but Iike the one used in Germany or Switzerland, minus the mandatory savings account and higher taxes.

2019-12-22 00:34:37 UTC

Epi Pen for example, but most drugs as well

2019-12-22 00:34:56 UTC

I’d rather have decent healthcare for everybody than the best healthcare known to man for like 2% of people

2019-12-22 00:35:11 UTC

Should drugs be private or public?

2019-12-22 00:35:13 UTC

But then there is the decreased innovation.

2019-12-22 00:35:15 UTC

kraut and tea made a vidio on this topic

2019-12-22 00:35:20 UTC

i know hes retarded

2019-12-22 00:35:31 UTC

but its a pretty good video nonetheless

2019-12-22 00:35:53 UTC

I kept hearing horrible stories about long lines in Canada and the UK.

2019-12-22 00:35:55 UTC
2019-12-22 00:36:02 UTC

Exactly right @bolivarian_robert

2019-12-22 00:36:18 UTC
2019-12-22 00:36:34 UTC

My brother has been to the doctors in the UK, there was no wait time

2019-12-22 00:36:36 UTC

the only downside to Canada's healthcare system is the downsides really

2019-12-22 00:36:36 UTC

At all

2019-12-22 00:36:42 UTC

it's a topic politicians avoid talking about

2019-12-22 00:36:51 UTC

(wait what the fuck did I just say)

2019-12-22 00:36:55 UTC

the wait-times

2019-12-22 00:37:01 UTC

The downsides are the downsides

2019-12-22 00:37:09 UTC

am I wrong though?

2019-12-22 00:37:11 UTC

Well said
