@Lucienne d'Anwyl , when you look at a weapon in your inv, it has a letter score next to an icon for Strength, Dex, Int and Faith. Das how well the weapon's damage scales with the given stat of your character. S is best, then A, B, C etc. So weapons don;t just require a certain amount of stats to wield but also scale differently with your stats The soft cap for when increasing a stat further is largely worthless is like 40 or something. Can't remember cause it varies from game to game. Other then that most enemies have some sort of weakness to a certain damage types, and weapons also deal different damage types which you can see on the same screen. Oh, and divine weapons prevent skelingtons from respawning^^.
