They might have to bring it to you from D.C. or Richmond, etc or work an arrangement from another company, but that's what the insurance covers.
The other option is we all act like selfish libertarians and hope it's someone else's personal vehicle that gets hit or someone else's rental.
Regardless, the entire purpose is to keep all the total amount of vehicles at risk to a minimum, but primarily reduce the risk to ALL of our people.
Agreed. Just want to make sure there is a backup plan for a worse case scenario here.
I'll talk to enterprise to double check that they will provide transportation in case of an (((accident))).
In the event something happens cops will be involved and adjustments will have to be made to remove people from the scene. This will be a game time decision.
This will be us
I know NC law is on the books that driving over protestors blocking roadways isn't an offense. This is crossover for this channel and VA law.
@MadDimension I am renting a 15-passenger van and bringing a group from the S.C./central-NC area. We will be arriving on Aug. 11 and leaving Aug 13. I'd like to volunteer our van for whatever it can be used for while we're up there. Most of us are staying at the NC Haus.
Friendly reminder to consider using Uber/Lyft services to be dropped off at safe locations close to Lee Park. Using one of these services would eliminate the danger of your car being targeted/damaged after you drove and parked it in the area (likely with some Trump/NRA/other sticker on it).
Thats bad advice and also doesn't belong in this channel
Probably better than your idea of renting a school bus from the local school district, imo.
If you have reasoning as to why you think using Uber/Lyft is a bad idea, however, I'm more than willing to listen.
Also, this absolutely belongs in this channel, as it directly relates the topic of shuttle service to the event. Individuals have expressed concerns over having their owned/rented vehicles damaged, and this is an issue that needs to be addressed.
Yes, drive to a cliff and use a glider to get to the park.
Beat that.
Using an Uber or a Lyft, at best, you can travel in a group or 3-4 (limited to the number of passengers in the vehicle). Right off the bat, that's a dumb idea.
I've also had situations where Uber and Lyft were booked solid for an hour at a time with just a few seconds here and there where a car became available before it was booked by somebody else. That kind of variability introduces an element of uncertainty that you don't want to have in situations like these.
Also, we'll have hundreds of people. I doubt there are that many Ubers/Lyfts.
Also, if the driver feels that the situation they're getting into is unsafe (by driving close to a mob), they can reasonably deny taking you as close as you'd want to be.
It's just a shit idea all around, especially when there are better, more reliable options being worked on by our people.
I understand that your plan is to take an Uber, have it drop you off a few blocks away, and then walk the rest of the way, but I assure you that that is a very bad idea.
tl;dr: "Thats bad advice and also doesn't belong in this channel"
Even ignoring the issue of you arriving in a small group (or alone) and leaving yourself open to attack or harassment, you will probably not be able to get an Uber in the immediate vicinity after the rally, and there will likely be no extra space for you to jump on one of our shuttles if you need to get out quickly. Do you really want to be left alone in a crowd of antifa while the bulk of the rally heads back to get on a shuttle to leave?
(But maybe you'll get really lucky amd your Uber driver will be a local commie! That'll be fun.)
I'm trying to create a system where everyone will mass early in one close but secure location. Vehicles will be returned multiple satellite locations with drivers only.
Everyone will be shuttled to the event in very large groups so there will never be less than a few dozen together.
Afterward. Several groups of dozens at a time leave. When everyone is at the off sight rally point the shuttles will take drivers to get their vehicles. Convoys will return and from the satellite sights and large groups will leave simultaneously.
If people work together, follow the plan and don't try to be on their own program, this should limit everyone's exposure to vandalism or injury.
That's the wave tops. Without the satellite locations nailed down. I decided to post it early because I need people to conceptualize it, so that we don't have people going off script on game day or trying to tinker with things and screw up the broader system.
If you have suggestions within this framework. Please submit, but we do not need multiple people trying to devised there own system. The strength is massing the most of us as possible. @everyone
The only real variables at this point is how early are we starting and where are the satellite points. Which are being worked out. The time at the rally point waiting for the shuttles to return will likely be good because it will be the first time the entire group will be together and can iron out detail instead of trying to meet each other and figure it out under duress.
Great work, @Tyrone 👌🏻 let me know if there's any way I can help in establishing your proposed shuttle system. I'll definitely be a part of a Carolina convoy, myself.
I hope the satellite parking can be on private property.
There's pinned messages for a reason. Please read them.
There will be more details released tonight. However it might be late overnight.
Is the shuttle even running for the afterparty?
hasnt even been discussed
Didn't think so. Every man for himself to find a designated driver or should we try to coordinate something comprehensive?
I'm going to spend a few hours tonight working on some logistics. After its over and everyone has 88 ideas on how it would be better, let me know for next time.
I will make a plan for the after party, because apparently we didn't get the cool place with Slave Quarters secured in time
