Y'all are talking past each other
Well, that presupposes that ghettos exist solely because of prejudice and that these people wouldn't just be exceptions that prove the rule
quite possibly, I think I might've assumed things that aren't true about your beliefs @IAmAlwaysWatching
o-k
and if that's so i'm sorry
That's fine.
I wasn't stating things aren't negative, and that they aren't something to overcome. But proving yourself to someone is a much more permanent way of getting rid of someone's judgement about you. Crying and complaining till they give you what you want isn't ever a solid foundation for someone to take you seriously.
Oh I agree
Totally
I also agree, but I think there is a difference between proving yourself to someone while being against crying and saying that gypsies should be nailed onto the wall
*walling the gypsies off
I'd just sooner have there be no unnecessary prejudice against somebody based on, say, skin colour. If somebody has an initial low estimation of you I'd sooner it be over things that are indicative of your individual character i.e. your manner of dress, if you're well groomed, etc. All still a little superficial but you know
I think that gypsies shouldnt be nailed to a wall.
Save that for the frenchies.
heh
I'm going home to see my family
We were gonna have a barbeque like you guys. . .
cool
thank god for that clarification
And I thought our server had a good gate on it
Good job 👏👏

@Домінік#7553
ah shit
?
?
wot
why do people keep putting links
nowhere else to put them i guess
for some people here
@Belisarius its hard to imagine a foreign name equating to anything besides the migration of people. But I supposed you are right, maybe her parents just picked the name Yasmin Alibhai at random and it has nothing to do with being derived from a foreign culture.
you can like
not be so snarky lmao
But I guess one would first have to accept that there is a historical context to a british identity, least their is no foundation for calling anything foriegn.
what I *meant* was that you were equating-- falsely-- immigration with neoliberalism. Clearly, there was immigration before neoliberalism. Does neoliberalism facilitate *mass* immigration? Yeah, it can of course. But then again, there were also muslims and sikhs living as a small minority in Victorian Britain. What I'm trying to say is laying the immigration of any "suspected foreigner" and their subsequent existence as a British citizen/resident of the UK on the feet of neoliberalism strikes me as wrong. Indeed, it strikes me as vaguely prejudiced
