There are a handful within Conservatives

2019-09-03 22:42:01 UTC

Nearest liberal party is UKIP

2019-09-03 22:42:11 UTC

illiberal undemocrats

2019-09-03 22:42:13 UTC

There is a Libertarian Party

2019-09-03 22:42:20 UTC

Libertarian !== Liberal

2019-09-03 22:42:32 UTC

Although it is essentially non-existent when it comes to actual vote share

2019-09-03 22:42:50 UTC

The Libertarians of today were the Liberals about 20-30 years ago

2019-09-03 22:43:28 UTC

Libertarians are nearly as dumb as the Anarcho-Capitalists

2019-09-03 22:43:46 UTC

ehhh dont know if i agree with that Electic lizard

2019-09-03 22:43:50 UTC

Humans require authority and hierarchy

2019-09-03 22:44:21 UTC

dont project your needs on me buddy😜

2019-09-03 22:44:38 UTC

I think all the true Liberals have adopted the Libertarian label because of the path of modern day liberals

2019-09-03 22:44:46 UTC

im a strong independent young individual who needs no hierarchy

2019-09-03 22:44:48 UTC

I mean in the aggregate

2019-09-03 22:45:05 UTC

ik 😄

2019-09-03 22:45:12 UTC

Nah, you do, society needs it because it's how large complicated organisations work

2019-09-03 22:45:17 UTC

It's the only way they work, inf act

2019-09-03 22:45:39 UTC

reee muh voluntaryism

2019-09-03 22:45:41 UTC

I disagree with that

2019-09-03 22:45:41 UTC

I don't mean there has to be a large state, or strict laws

2019-09-03 22:45:46 UTC

We need very limited Government

2019-09-03 22:46:00 UTC

But there does need to be structure, objective rules that are seen to be obeyed. People need to be able to trust the system

2019-09-03 22:46:04 UTC

And at the moment they simply do not

2019-09-03 22:46:27 UTC

We shouldn't go all Ayn Rand with voluntaryism but we should have a very limited Government

2019-09-03 22:46:53 UTC

rather than saying "very limited", i would say "clearly delineated"

2019-09-03 22:47:03 UTC

Hoping you appreciate the difference

2019-09-03 22:47:15 UTC

i think it should just have limited power

2019-09-03 22:47:50 UTC

I would go for "clearly delineated" and "very limited"

2019-09-03 22:48:12 UTC

It really shouldn't interfere in the economy and should mainly just be responsible for policing and National Defence

2019-09-03 22:48:19 UTC

"very limited" is tacking on a preference for size/services provided

2019-09-03 22:48:32 UTC

sooo, when is Britain getting a written constitution?😆

2019-09-03 22:48:35 UTC

I think we should mainly have something along the lines of a Minarchist state

2019-09-03 22:48:42 UTC

I think we need "clearly delineated" first as a prequisite 🙂

2019-09-03 22:48:58 UTC

2019-09-03 22:49:10 UTC

2019-09-03 22:49:52 UTC

@Eccles far enough

2019-09-03 22:50:43 UTC

I'm actually fairly pro-public services, but i see it as something that can help bring together left and right - the demand for a clearly delineated government whose institutions can be trusted

2019-09-03 22:51:01 UTC

The State even existing is going to threaten Liberty so we should just give it minimun power to ensure that very limited liberty is lost

2019-09-03 22:51:18 UTC

The purpose of the state is to preserve Liberty

2019-09-03 22:51:28 UTC

(In a Liberal philosophy)

2019-09-03 22:51:35 UTC

The State is the main threat to Liberty
