The shooter has been apprehended i think but it will probably take a few hours for the motivations to be made clear

It would be very easy for someone to fake the manifesto so it could be fake

They do have the worst name, Given that they are barely Liberal and they are certainly not democratic

It depends what definition you use for Liberalism

If you treat it as essentially being a slight divulgence of Libertarianism then they are certainly not Liberal

But many Liberal Parties nowadays are barely like that

Well no i don't think Libertarians want to remove the State

I think they just want to significantly reduce the size and power of the state

If they wanted to remove the state then most would essentially be anarchists

Most libertarians i know support a kind of Minarchist state

I think Libertarianism is different from what is essentially a form of radical objectivism which is what is displayed in Rapture

I mean most Libertarianism believe in a state of some sort however in Rapture there basically isn't a Government the only thing that is done by Ryan is basic policing

I don't think Rapture is an accurate representation of Objectivism because the main problem in Rapture was that Fontaine created a monopoly on Plasmids that were poorly made however most Objectivists including Ayn Rand herself maintained the idea that Monopolies are impossible to create in a genuine free market and that they are caused by Government Intervention

Besides the thing that destroyed Rapture was the Plasmids made by Ryan and Fontaine however since they are not a real thing if Andrew Ryan's form of Libertarianism was actually tried it couldn't be destroyed in the same way

And there is no real example of a product like Plasmids that could really cause the same effect in real life, Since they are clearly on a different level to modern drugs

Well he isn't completely wrong economically, Most of the economy can run itself due to the invisible hand of the market

Well Ayn Rand supported the idea of voluntary taxation for it, Although i don't know how it would really work practically

Its the whole idea of self interest again though, The idea is that people would support these projects like maintenance with their own money because it is in their own self interest to have them done

Presumably the same would be expected to occur with Hospitals and Infrastructure and whatnot
