It's a good middle-road lang, not quite C's raw power but also not the defanged fluff of most modern languages
so you can still actually teach programming
Modern lang fluff features are for rapid development and reducing risk in production code.
Not for learning how the fuck computer work or for learning how to tell it what to do if you want to make a career out of that ability.
