deplatforming anyone is censorship. It comes across as unprofessional for defenders of free speech to want to silence specific people.
You start to sound no better than the radical left.
Does this mean mexicans cant enjoy Taco tuesdays?
i don't necessarily think people should be grateful when their culture is appropriated from, but cultural appropriation is basically a non-issue imo
at best it's probably only tangential to real issues
culture is a set of ideas, you do not own them, so they cannot be "appropriated". They are shared and spread naturally, through human interaction.
ie the only representation of a minority culture within the mainstream is crude due to the marginalization of said culture, but in this case i don't think cultural appropriation the causal factor behind said marginalization
you can feel offended all you want, but that just makes you look like a complete and utter fool
cultural appropriation is a specific type of cultural exchange though where you take aspects from a culture in a superficial manner
no, it is nonsense
ie people wearing the indian dot thing as a fashion statement

and not understanding whatever significance it has to dot heads
a complete non-issue. If anyone takes offense at something like that, they are free to dry their eyes, and grow a pair.
i think when it comes to immigrant cultures it's a definite non-issue because assimilation should be the focus with immigrants
They do not have to lose all of their cultural identity, but if their culture is mostly harmful, superstitious nonsense, then assimilation is preferable to 'integration'.
when it comes to aboriginal peoples like with native americans i can understand why it might sting for a marginalized and indigenous group to see their culture absorbed in a superficial manner by the dominant culture though here i think the real problem is the marginalization and not people wearing feather bonnets because they think they look cool or whatever
I can understand why they might feel such emotion as well, but I hold little sympathy for it.
They do not own the ideas, customs and behaviors of the culture they were born into. It is tribalist nonsense to feel such attachment in the first place. Especially when it comes to superficial stuff such as clothing and food.
