Impeachment’s aren’t trials

2021-01-15 04:38:00 UTC

Or a conviction

2021-01-15 04:44:12 UTC

Well yes and no.. Technically the Impeachment has already happened. Trump has officially been impeached twice.

The Senate hears evidence and then votes on whether the person being impeached (in this case Pres Trump) is "guilty" of any of the Article of Impeachment.

So the terms "trial" and "Impeachment" are applied rather loosely when it comes to Impeachment

2021-01-15 04:45:44 UTC

@james j ... this is from Senate . gov

The Senate sits as a High Court of Impeachment in which senators consider evidence, hear witnesses, and vote to acquit or convict the impeached official. ... The Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of the Senate to convict, and the penalty for an impeached official upon conviction is removal from office.

Thanks... been looking for this

2021-01-15 04:46:56 UTC

I’m talking about the house impeachment. The thing that is supposed to be reversed after something comes out @JD~Jordan

2021-01-15 04:47:28 UTC

Im not sure there will be a senate hearing for a couple months

2021-01-15 04:47:47 UTC

Biden hopefully will prioritize the stimulus package over the impeachment

2021-01-15 04:47:50 UTC

But who knows

2021-01-15 04:49:06 UTC

ohhhh ok ok... sorry I see

2021-01-15 04:49:21 UTC

You were directing that to her. Yes Ok, gotcha

2021-01-15 04:51:06 UTC

As to the possibility of Trump being prohibited from holding office... its a bit more complicated
IS TRUMP AUTOMATICALLY BARRED FROM OFFICE IF HE’S CONVICTED?

No, if past is precedent. If the Senate were to convict, lawmakers would take a separate vote on whether to disqualify him from holding future office.

No president has ever been convicted in the Senate and removed from office. But in the case of federal judges who were impeached and removed from office, the Senate has taken a second vote after conviction to determine whether to bar the person from ever holding federal office again.

The bar is lower on that second vote, with only a majority of senators needed to succeed. Then again, because it’s never happened before in the case of a president, a court challenge could follow.

Now... bed for me... Sweetest of Dreams

2021-01-15 04:53:31 UTC

I don’t think an impeachment can prevent him from running for office again.

What authority does the Senate have to place an additional restriction on eligibility that’s not in the Constitution?

Am I missing something here?

Turns out John is a an Instigator for protests in general doesn’t matter where or who according to this nov 26 Twitter post when he was kicked out of blm protest. https://mobile.twitter.com/RebellionBaby/status/1331902011147620352

Does anyone know about a full forensic audit of the election in Arizona? Rob mentioned it in a superchat today.

2021-01-15 06:33:10 UTC

Article 1 section 3 of the US Constitution: "Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law."

2021-01-15 06:37:37 UTC

We have some problems then or is "Judgement" in the hands of the senate and the house is just a joke?

2021-01-15 06:43:28 UTC

Thanks. I should have looked up the article dealing with impeachment as well, huh? Lol.

2021-01-15 08:00:09 UTC

I just saw that yesterday on Twitter. Decided to delete Twitter today. Idk how old this news is. Anyone know more?

2021-01-15 08:23:29 UTC

Theoretically

2021-01-15 08:30:54 UTC

I agree. I have not been on Twitter in about one month. Only reason I still have an account is to keep tabs on nut jobs like him

2021-01-15 08:32:50 UTC

I just started using Twitter a month ago for more updates. Didn't last long lol

2021-01-15 11:46:50 UTC

A guy said some shit. PBS fired him. A very scary threat seems like a massive stretch.

2021-01-15 12:23:59 UTC

Well here is some talking points for a while.
This is the declassified file drop.

2021-01-15 12:24:06 UTC

It is huge.

2021-01-15 12:30:04 UTC

I feel like the most important part was missing from the video is that Twitter doesn’t host its feed on Amazon which gives AWS no say in content moderation 🤷

2021-01-15 12:31:31 UTC

I posted a comment about that just prior to you making this comment. Impeachment works the same way whether the person being impeached is a President or a Federal Judge. We have seen Congress vote on a Federal Judge's ability to hold office in the future.

I also noted that it would likely been challenged in court.... but again there is precedent. Congress has exercised this power in Impeachment Proceedings before....

2021-01-15 12:34:21 UTC

To me that’s like two guys renting a storage unit and one fills it with illegal drugs and gets kicked out and says look at what that other guy has in his house. What? That’s none of the storage companies business 😂

2021-01-15 12:36:42 UTC

No. That is not a theory. That is the way it works. Trump is one of only 3 to have been impeached. And Trump is the only one of those to be impeached twice.

So... its not a theory. But perhaps you meant to say "technically" instead of "theoretically"

2021-01-15 13:34:29 UTC

"Ill go to the white house and throw molotov coctails"

Is a stretch, but

"Go and peacefully and patriotically make our voices heard"

Is violence....?

2021-01-15 13:38:37 UTC

This chatroom doesn't deal in reality. Nobody here believes that it was soyboys who breeched the capitol even though theyre on video and well known.

2021-01-15 13:48:29 UTC

@RobertGrulerEsq In regards to the article of impeachment they failed to realize the rioters were breaching the capitol while Trump was making speech. The part they are using Trump was talking about fighting for election integrity.

2021-01-15 14:03:38 UTC

That’s how TWITter sees it

2021-01-15 14:10:45 UTC

Strong strawman game.

2021-01-15 14:12:54 UTC

@Maw let the first few slide but ad homs not seeming productive the the conversation

2021-01-15 14:14:10 UTC

@Joe Snow Be civil. I don't generally let things slide at all. No ad hominem attacks on anyone.

2021-01-15 14:19:46 UTC

Im not sure what that means.
