@DontBeAnIdgit in my mind though, it wouldn’t really matter because if I pulled my firearm, I’m fully intending on shooting to kill the person. Brandishing firearms as a deterrent in public can land you in sticky legal situations, and as we saw with the McCloskeys apparently you can’t do it on your own property 😒. But yeah, as a rule for conceal carry, your assailant shouldn’t know you have a gun until you draw it to shoot him, so ideally, he wouldn’t even have time to see the size of the gun before he’s already been dropped.

For home defense however......intimidation is part of the game

Particularly because it's harder to clean up the bodily fluids in your house where outside it will just wash away. Plus, if you use too big a caliber you may have holes to patch.
