I'm thinking of when I stepped up from a P220 to a P226. Same size pistol, went from not-quite-flush 8 round mags to not-quite-flush 18 round mags.

CA's laws on mags are basically as long as you had that mag in the state when there wasn't a ban (pre-ban, freedom week), it's legal. It's also up to the state to prove you didn't have the mag in-state.

I shoot a LOT and clean my AR about annually, my EDC maybe every six months.

Oh, trust me. "Fire-proof" only really means "fire-resistant."

Grease can be used far more sparingly, and doesn't creep like oil. Grease, SPEAKING FROM LONG EXPERIENCE, attracts less fouling and sand.

Not if you want to keep dirt off. The surfaces inside the AR aren't going to corrode, so you don't NEED creep.

Apologies for the messy bench, but this is what 1500ish rounds look like on grease. All weather, rain or shine (Texas, so mostly shine) blowing dirt, pushing through cedar stands... It's got some gunk on it, but no sand, no foreign materials. And it runs the same as if I'd just cleaned it yesterday.

Small bonus: I can pop my buffer out and it'll be clean. :p

I've had one malfunction on this rifle ever, and it was a couple weeks ago when I didn't seat the magazine fully. Oops.

The forward assist has one legitimate use. Quietly loading the rifle. Other than that, you just make problems worse.

This is "extremely dirty"? Pff, it's got another 2K on it before I worry about cleaning it. Hell, the barrel gets too fouled to hold decent groups way before I "need" to clean the bolt group.

As far as the rings go, I've only managed to wear one set out in my lifetime, in my last AR. No biggy - wearable item. And they are one of the few parts that do a good job of self-cleaning.

Cold bore fliers aren't an issue if you never clean your rifle.

AKs have their issues, but honestly accuracy isn't really one of them. Their iron sights suck, and their triggers are terrible, but that stuff can be worked with/around.

Except doing that on purpose is a good way to get thrown in prison... Pass.

Yeah, my Romy G has a canted front sight. Doesn't bind up. Won't feed HP ammo for crap, though. It's all good. Ended up dropping a Comp M2/low ring combo on an ULTIMAK. AK sights are terrible.

My first AK trigger job was doing some messing around on the disconnector to make it a 2 stage. Figured out how to do that by playing with a match-built Garand and its NM trigger. Worked for a while, but the spacer I put in for the disconnect spring wore down so now I just use an ALG trigger.

That Garand was fun. Would mess people up when I'd set it on the bench and then pull out a box of .308.

Old but as relevant as ever.

Cook in the oven at low heat until it's done as you want, pull it out, heat the skillet with high temp oil (NOT OLIVE OIL), then sear the steak. Skillet needs to be HOT. About 1 min each side. Baste with butter while searing.

They're also lawyers themselves, so yeah. Wrong people to mess with.

Try the reverse sear. You don't get the "transition layer" between the crust and center. I like rare, and reverse sear yields a steak that's rare except for the very outside.
