Don't now that she has either but she wants to try

2020-12-26 18:33:15 UTC

Vitamix makes amazing blenders

2020-12-26 18:37:43 UTC

Ok cool, I'll look into them πŸ™‚

2020-12-26 18:40:39 UTC

There a bit on the pricey side but definitely worth it

Question: how do you cook a steak that fat?

2020-12-26 20:56:28 UTC

It's like a roast

2020-12-26 21:01:01 UTC

I'm thinking of searing on the pan. Basting, then put it in the oven

2020-12-26 21:38:27 UTC

@Hawk Reaper maybe you know

2020-12-26 21:41:28 UTC

About how thick is it

2020-12-26 21:43:04 UTC
2020-12-26 21:44:02 UTC

over 1.5 inches

2020-12-26 21:46:02 UTC

Ok, so yeah you could reverse sear it

2020-12-26 21:46:43 UTC

Which is where you would bake it and then sear

2020-12-26 21:48:20 UTC

Something like this

2020-12-26 21:50:03 UTC

I think that would be the best option

2020-12-26 21:53:43 UTC

Hah, nice! I was about to do everything backwards πŸ˜„

2020-12-26 21:53:55 UTC

I was about to pan seer it first, then oven, that makes more sense

2020-12-26 21:56:36 UTC

Lol 😁

2020-12-26 22:25:40 UTC

at the pan seer stage of the steak, can you still baste the steak with butter and rosemary? As I notice they encourage cooking the steak with butter on the skillet

2020-12-26 22:26:57 UTC

Yup, you can add in your rosemary and garlic when your searing and it’ll be good

2020-12-26 22:27:35 UTC

Great πŸ˜„
I got my Grandparents to warm up to butter & rosemary since they're pretty stingy with just salt & pepper

I do want to try garlic in the mix

2020-12-26 22:27:41 UTC

I take it 1 clove works?

2020-12-26 22:30:23 UTC

I'll likely take that 1 clove and mince it, and then add it to the melted butter & rosemary

2020-12-26 22:32:29 UTC

Yeah, one should be good, maybe two if you want more flavor, but salting (and adding pepper) all sides of the steak before baking will also bring out a lot of flavor. But yeah, you can put your butter rosemary and garlic in the pan when you sear

2020-12-26 22:33:04 UTC

Sounds good, I should try adding pepper to the steak for cooking. I usually pepper the steak when the steak is finished

2020-12-26 22:33:12 UTC

because salt marinates and soaks into the steak

2020-12-26 22:33:47 UTC

I salt the steaks overnight for it to sink in

2020-12-26 22:34:07 UTC

Thanks for the gameplan. Before I even move forward..I need to drop 5 pounds with power greens and ginger root πŸ˜‚

2020-12-26 22:34:25 UTC

Starting Monday

2020-12-26 22:41:40 UTC

Hahaha sounds good πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ»

2020-12-26 23:43:02 UTC

I got an Anova sous vide machine for Christmas yesterday. Really looking forward to getting to use that.

2020-12-27 00:11:33 UTC

I love mine!!!

2020-12-27 00:11:58 UTC

I used it every holiday this year (and it’s become the standard use for my steaks).

2020-12-27 00:39:27 UTC

I used my sous vide yesterday to cook up a bunch of steaks, they came out amazing!

2020-12-27 00:40:45 UTC

I plan to use it to cook steak for my family and grandparents this week while I'm still home for my college Christmas break.

2020-12-27 00:41:45 UTC

Unfortunately I'm not sure how I'll do it because two people like medium well, three of us medium, and two medium rare.

2020-12-27 00:42:01 UTC

There are ways to do that

2020-12-27 00:42:22 UTC

I had only see ways to do it with two temperature not three.
