@Flint idk "parliament" has always sounded pretty normal to me

2018-12-10 07:02:40 UTC

also, I don't think it's a naming thing

2018-12-10 07:03:06 UTC

if I remember correctly, the Parliamentary System is a specific system

2018-12-10 07:04:02 UTC

So, "parliament" vs "congress" isn't just a matter of semantics, it's an actual different system

2018-12-10 07:05:24 UTC

"different system", you mean, like the metric system? btfo borther

2018-12-10 07:08:22 UTC

tbh metric is better

2018-12-10 07:09:21 UTC

literally no reason to use these esoteric measurements based on what was convenient to some farmer 10 centuries ago

2018-12-10 07:12:00 UTC

Read it out of context

2018-12-10 07:13:24 UTC

The only thing I refer to in metric is meters
>thanks J's

2018-12-10 07:15:42 UTC

I looked up how big my apartment is, converted it to metric, and promptly forgot what the original number was because metric is more useful

2018-12-10 07:16:03 UTC

it's 34 square meters btw

2018-12-10 07:16:14 UTC

my dorm was 15

2018-12-10 07:23:56 UTC

I think we would switch if it weren't so set in stone. Could you imagine the cluster of trying to convert all building plans and tools to metric? What a nightmare

2018-12-10 07:24:13 UTC

Height in centimeters is just bizarre though

2018-12-10 07:27:49 UTC

I mean

2018-12-10 07:28:06 UTC

it's not like other countries haven't done it

2018-12-10 07:28:30 UTC

and ya that's pretty weird, but meters exist and we can use those

2018-12-10 07:30:29 UTC

What countries have done it? Was it recent?

2018-12-10 07:30:49 UTC

(recent as in with modern technology and architecture)

2018-12-10 07:31:21 UTC

Big if true

2018-12-10 07:46:05 UTC

well... really every country has done it except the US, Myanmar, and some irrelevant ones

2018-12-10 07:46:30 UTC

I think Canada was fairly recent

2018-12-10 08:57:43 UTC

Parliament Funkadelic

2018-12-10 08:58:01 UTC

VS

2018-12-10 08:58:09 UTC

Congress Funkadelic

2018-12-10 08:58:19 UTC

I dunno guys...

2018-12-10 09:58:10 UTC

>Imagine not measuring things in Rods (length of a standard canoe ~16.5 ft)

2018-12-10 10:05:56 UTC

You know, insisting all nations use the same measurement "to be more efficient" is not very different than the argument for one global language, currency, legal system, and government. All of those things "increase efficiency" and "ease of trade."

Resist globalism. Reject metric.

2018-12-10 10:47:10 UTC

That's not really an argument against the metric system
