I think evangelicals have the marriage laws down to 13 14 15 in many states still. You just can’t have sex with an unmarried 15 year old because God wouldn’t like that
Thanks for the clarification!
you had asked about if some should not have the ability to "Consent" @Maw
Yes, it was a thought exercise because I think consent is nuanced.
Muslims and Christians are pretty lock step on this Iraq wants child brides too
Thought exercise. That's the term I was seeking.
yea sorry if i made it real
Not at all. Yes, there may be some similarities, but also differences. The number of wives, for example, is quite a difference.
I don't care about Iraq; I care about US!
Lol you're good. It's fraught with land mines. @ShittyKitty
so 15 is cool then @GregInHouston2 is that what you think?
It was a counterpoint to the idea that rape does not require structures of relationships/positions of authority.
It’s super weird that states have zero interest in shoring up all the weird laws they have
but maw that makes it so much more fun...
like i said safe words
uh
I don't know if it is or isn't. I have no interest in a 15 year old. But what if I'm on a jury?
Depends on the state, of course.
Personally, I have never had sex with a teen. The youngest was my bride who was 29.
@GregInHouston2 Good news. In court, they'll tell you what the law is...but this seems to be about why the law *should be*.
I don't care what the law is. Jury Nullification. If the law is wrong or wrongly applied, I do not have to convict!
law of the land i thought was you argument in you words "I care about US!" so if thats the law in the state you are cool with that?
Therefore you get kicked off the jury. Woo.
Maybe. But not with cause!
Starting to sound a lil advocaty, tbh.
you mean there is a jury of my peers i would like to meet them... wow you would not want to walk into our land just saying
As a jury member, you would be required to determine whether or not a person was guilty *as defined by what the law says*. Otherwise you're not doing your duty as a jury member.
If you don't agree with the law, you're removed from the jury usually.
Exactly. I cannot convict someone unless they have broken the law. Period. I do not have to convict.
DAM YOU KIDS GET OFF MY LAWN!
Tell dc juries that
You have to determine guilt or innocence. Probably technically it's the judge that then convicts.
@Philip R, you just advanced to level 7!
Is there any clarification about the super odd claims they hacked a GA voting machine
What? No, not how it works. If it's trial by jury, it's judgment by jury.
Hence why it's called trial by jury.
Wrong! I determine if they are guilty or not guilty.
Also interested in this!
> Is there any clarification about the super odd claims they hacked a GA voting machine
@Dedkraken Robbed a bank to show it's possible under unnaturally contrived circumstances, I reckon.
He explained it poorly in technical and layman’s terms
Juries are allowed to produce unlawful outcomes in America.
