So yeah, I don't watch tv and don't follow conspiracy theories at all.
Glenn Greenwald. Solid lefty who broke the Snowden story. Founded (with two others) hard lefty news outlet The Intercept. Left because the editors at his own outlet censored him. I'm keen to see what he gets up to now.
I don't watch TV, but I have family that do follow conspiracy theories and that's the only reason why I know any of them
I don't even have TV lol
Lol me neither. I have one but it's not even plugged in for years.
Same @Ford
Oh I see. Didn't realize this was from the election chat
Woops sorry....
We moved because we screened off topic.

Fair fair
Sorry just setting my daughter up to dig her dirt-pit in an appropriate spot the garden lol
I feel like there is some secret libertarian lair chat in which people are frolicking and I'm not welcome. Lol
I’m sorry my catching up offended you. Sincerely the librarian 🤓
?
No one here gets offended who didn't come in offended. Lol
Libertarian ftw

Well, you're in the right place for them. I find their ideas refreshing, albeit simple, from my uninitiated perspective. It's interesting.
@RobertGrulerEsq Do you think background checks for voter registration would pass strict scrutiny?
@WatchingYouDaily No. Strict scrutiny is a very strict standard. That would be way too overbroad. You can be convicted of a misdemeanor and still retain your voting rights and there are already mechanisms in place to disqualify felons, etc.
Interesting question though. Taking it one step further, the next question would be - what about for poll watchers or election center workers? I think there is a much better argument there because it is narrowly tailored.

@RobertGrulerEsq That would work require a background investigation into pool watchers or election center workers. However if background investigations to possess a firearm or get a CPL have passed strict scrutiny one would think it can apply to voter registration. The mechanisms for felons varies from state to state there is no consistency.
Id someone takes my votes away because some poll watcher doesn't pass muster, we're going to have a problem.
On the flip side if you have a former felon convicted of fraud / crime of dishonesty counting ballots that might make people uneasy.
Absolutely. Lock them up for that. Also, demonstrate that the are both a felon *and* have committed some kind of vote counting malfeasance and lock them up for that too.
Interesting article in interfax: *"The split of the United States following the presidential elections can lead to the loss of a single political center, which will sharply raise the question of the controllability of the American system. Who will obey the military of the huge American army, if there is no commander-in-chief, or there will be two or three of them at once? [...]" - said Shchipkov on the air of the TV channel "Spas"."*
intersting
the russians are either concerned, or are playing concerned.
"Moscow. November 5. INTERFAX.RU - The world community will have to think about control over US nuclear weapons in the event of a civil confrontation due to the results of the presidential elections in the States and the loss of control over the country, which is fraught with dire consequences, said Alexander Shchipkov, First Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media "
First paragraph of that article
I can translate more if anyone is interested
