Well, remember us old guys on Soc Sec used to pay taxes on it. But Clinton cut the size and cost of govt. in part by mandating Soc. Sec. reduction by cost of the taxes. And then fired all the accountants that used to keep track of it.

@TaLoN132 its electoral vote first, then a contingent election in the house under the 12th amendment

2020-11-24 02:56:29 UTC

That seems like a weird position to have while advocating for no taxes.

2020-11-24 02:56:59 UTC

So anyone over 65 would not get to vote since they are in retierment?

2020-11-24 02:56:59 UTC

@Jorgen Johnson, you just advanced to level 1!

2020-11-24 02:57:12 UTC

I would prefer that Sydney prove that 30% of the vote for Biden was fraudulent.

2020-11-24 02:57:32 UTC

Understood... Some are suggesting that Trump's aim is to keep filing court cases preventing states from certifying, so Biden can't reach 270 electoral votes.

2020-11-24 02:57:36 UTC

They wouldn't get to vote on new taxes that they don't have to pay!

2020-11-24 02:57:44 UTC

Hahaha fair

2020-11-24 02:58:04 UTC

Js

2020-11-24 02:58:10 UTC

I get it

2020-11-24 02:58:14 UTC

It's not a realistic argument

2020-11-24 02:58:22 UTC

But it feels good to say it.

2020-11-24 02:58:34 UTC

the spirit of it makes sense

2020-11-24 02:58:40 UTC

if you dont have a stake you shouldnt get to make decisions

2020-11-24 02:58:47 UTC

Yes, skin in the game.

2020-11-24 02:59:02 UTC

you should read starship troopers

2020-11-24 02:59:03 UTC

@Jorgen Johnson points out the rub, though

2020-11-24 02:59:03 UTC

lol

2020-11-24 02:59:07 UTC

@RobertGrulerEsq However, while we don't pay taxes, our Soc Sec is supposed to be reduced by the amount of taxes we would have had to pay.

2020-11-24 02:59:26 UTC

the way the government is run in that book is interesting

2020-11-24 02:59:56 UTC

I've seen the movie

2020-11-24 03:00:21 UTC

the book is actually a bit more intellectual

2020-11-24 03:01:12 UTC

BRCC last broadcast I saw they were outlining how they would do a comedy movie about what govt would be like if they were in charge.

2020-11-24 03:01:30 UTC

Yes @Whithers I heard from some financial people that they may want people to pay taxes on the PPP loan, that was given to people, in the amount that it was forgiven.

2020-11-24 03:02:46 UTC

Like with student loans. If suddenly $50k is discharged /forgiven, you are paying taxes on that gift, in all likelihood.

2020-11-24 03:02:48 UTC

well you normally have to pay taxes on forgiven debt i believe

2020-11-24 03:02:48 UTC

@ImNotGas, you just advanced to level 4!

2020-11-24 03:02:59 UTC

Some of that was deferred and some wasn't. I was not affected so I didn't track it much.

2020-11-24 03:03:11 UTC

Yes but they didn't force your business closed, is the difference.

2020-11-24 03:03:17 UTC

true

2020-11-24 03:03:52 UTC

I have agreed with Shapiro that the govt. owes comp. because it took people's right to work away.

2020-11-24 03:03:52 UTC

@RobertGrulerEsq would you agree with the opposite? Illigal immigrants that pay taxes get to vote?

2020-11-24 03:04:32 UTC

Illegal immagrants should be removed. So, no, paying taxes is not sufficient.

2020-11-24 03:04:48 UTC

Great question

2020-11-24 03:05:19 UTC

I think there's a good argument there

2020-11-24 03:05:44 UTC

Or 14-17 year-olds that pay taxes vote?

2020-11-24 03:05:46 UTC

Ok, then lets say legal immigrants on visas

2020-11-24 03:05:50 UTC

You want people with skin in the game

2020-11-24 03:05:54 UTC

SPent a lot of my childhood around illegals. My foster brother came here illegal. Took us 22 years to get him naturalized. I understand a need for reform. But neither party cares.

2020-11-24 03:05:55 UTC

@Whithers, you just advanced to level 12!
