@RobertGrulerEsq would you agree with the opposite? Illigal immigrants that pay taxes get to vote?
Ok, then lets say legal immigrants on visas
If you are citizen of a country and are bound to honor the laws of a government you should have a say in who gets to make those laws. I get the skin in the game argument, but thatโs the skin, not just money.
@Doc I agree. Thatโs why I donโt vote. Not interested innpolitics to make educated opinions. I donโt complain about who gets voted in either.
@Whithers if the military was just for defense I might agree with you
Pro hac vice
Where do you get those numbers from @Doc ?
Is that public?
Can I ask my local hospital or clinic how many referrals they get per day?
Do you know what is the procedure to do that? Who should I call at a hospital?
@Doc so you are not in the US?
Ah ok. Thanks!
Barnes has a discord?
Iโve watched that video before, she never says itโs Scaliaโs seat. She is just worried about where the court will go if liberal non originalist thinking takes over
Which is now the opposite
Thatโs how I understand it too
She is just advocating for originalist approach. Which I still donโt really get but I donโt misteadcwhat she is trying ti say ..
Are you guys familiar with Torres vs Madrid? Uncivil Law and Rekieta covered the oral arguments the other day. They are still deciding what is seizure .. Thatโs why Iโm not sure that originalists/textualist interpretation is fully possible.
@realz Iโm not for activism either. Just think people use the concept of originalism too much to back whatever they want to say. I just wish they were honest
I donโt think itโs in bad faith. I just think people donโt think about their biases enough and pretend they are unbiased
I agree @realz
@Elzam thatโs why you need diversity of opinions. So they can check and challenge each other
@TaLoN132 Kagan was never a judge. You donโt think she is worthy of holding a supreme court seat?
Elzam is all sex voluntary?
It has mutated many more times than that. You can only say there are 60+ variants @Doc
@TaLoN132 the Mental Health Act was adopted in 1963 under JFK. I'm not sure how Reagan ended the practice ...
> Few anticipated how quickly President Kennedyโs aspiration of reducing the institutional population by half would be realized. By 1980, the inpatient population at public psychiatric hospitals had declined by 75%.
So what you claim happened in the 80s actually happened before the 80s
@TaLoN132 I have a brother with severe schizophrenia. The situation we currently have for taking care of people with severe mental illness is dire at best and in my opinion inhumane. I do think it was an unintended consequence of something that had good intentions. But I just want to make sure that people are not incorrectly blamed for something they didn't do. Although I doubt Reagan's policies made the situation better, in fact I'm almost sure they probably made it worse ...
Rosalynn Carter is a big advocate for people with mental illness.
