as much as I think DR3 is dumb

2019-02-03 07:34:57 UTC

It is

2019-02-03 07:35:03 UTC

this is a case where he might as well use it against him

2019-02-03 07:35:15 UTC

I mean the guy had a picture with a KKK suit

2019-02-03 07:35:39 UTC

the entire situation is kind of funny when you think about it

2019-02-03 07:36:03 UTC

considering the shit we've all heard about the 70s and 80s

2019-02-03 07:36:04 UTC

not liking the KKK is a bit different than being against a vague concept like "racism"
most white people, even in our circles, don't particularly like the KKK

2019-02-03 07:36:23 UTC

well yeah, we're not big fans of feds in general

2019-02-03 07:44:52 UTC

I unironically think Democrats are the real racists

2019-02-03 07:45:16 UTC

They use racial groups as pawns and bludgeons against each other.

2019-02-03 07:45:50 UTC

Republicans can't even see race when they're being racially targeted for genocide.

2019-02-03 07:47:50 UTC

They are race vultures

2019-02-03 08:23:45 UTC

do liberals genuinely care about this stuff?

2019-02-03 08:24:05 UTC

like does the average liberal genuinely want the governor to resign?

2019-02-03 08:24:51 UTC

I mean if it came out that a Republican took edgy pictures in high school dressed as a far leftist, like, whatever the polar opposite of KKK is, I wouldn't care

2019-02-03 08:25:12 UTC

They are told what to think.

2019-02-03 08:26:12 UTC

I’m of the opinion that the liberal “lay vanguard” probably does, but the actual Democratic Party just sees this as an attempt to potentially oust a rival party member from power.

2019-02-03 08:33:39 UTC

I believe the average ideological liberal thinks blackface is a cardinal sin

2019-02-03 08:34:46 UTC

The democrats are nothing if not pragmatic. Re: the DR3 thing- I don’t think they particularly care at all at about the well-being of minorities (as many of Hillary Clinton’s comments will attest to,) but I don’t think they do what they do out of a sense of malevolence for them either. Their relationship with minorities is utilitarian- by fomenting grievances between segments of the population, they can turn that outrage into political capital. For all of the Republican Party’s myriad faults, they legitimately don’t do this. There is no turning whites against blacks or Christians against Muslims etc on their part. A fair amount of them legitimately want to do right by blacks, Hispanics, whoever. They’re well meaning, but extremely naive. Democrats don’t support immigration because of any moral stance- it’s because 80% of immigrants from Mexico will vote for them. If it were the opposite- if immigrants voted 8:2 for the republicans, our southern border would be as militarized as North Korea’s.

2019-02-03 08:36:59 UTC

The Democratic Party seems to have a history of malicious electoral tactics. They always have seemed to try and weave together a coalition of different groups to oppose the usual Republican base of middle/high-income voters.

2019-02-03 08:40:09 UTC

@NiceGuy yes, its high/low alliance vs the middle class. West coast liberals and minorities vs. Middle class whites.

2019-02-03 08:42:27 UTC

The only people that win are the elites. Not the scumbag coastal wannabe elites. The real elites like (((bankers))), megacorps, mil ind complex, billionaires.

2019-02-03 08:44:49 UTC

When I got to thinking about it, I legitimately didn't care about the blackface/KKK costume. I was initially gas lit by pundits on the right and my own instinct to jump on a Democrat when they mess up. But if we want to defeat this culture of "racist this, racist that", then Ralph Northam's incident shouldn't reall matter.

2019-02-03 08:45:27 UTC

idk

2019-02-03 08:45:37 UTC

I think I kinda did care about minorities when I was more liberal

2019-02-03 08:45:39 UTC

Not an original thought of mine to take this position, I saws some say it on Twitter and it makes total since. We're playing into the Left's racism-phobia game by being upset about it.

2019-02-03 08:45:40 UTC
2019-02-03 08:46:08 UTC

not that I don't care about them at all now

2019-02-03 08:46:17 UTC

When I was more basic Republican, I legit wanted everyone to succeed and still to a degree do

2019-02-03 08:46:18 UTC

@NiceGuyits reactionary to point out the hypocrisy.

2019-02-03 08:46:26 UTC

but I mean I'll admit that I don't care about them as much as I used to

2019-02-03 08:46:38 UTC

Unfortunately they dont care about being hypocrites. That's well established.

2019-02-03 08:47:19 UTC

@Josh M. -OH Yeah it's one thing to say "Look at that 'anti-racist' in blackface." and another to say "Dude you're racist for blackface." Calling him a hypocrite > calling him a racist

2019-02-03 08:50:37 UTC

People are getting tired of the outrage culture. Pointing out the hypocrisy is the best way to further that sentiment. If they want to call for the guy to get fired, fine, fuck him. None of these people these people, conservative or liberal, are /ourguys/

2019-02-03 08:51:15 UTC

They're playing the same stupid game everyone is quickly growing tired of.

2019-02-03 08:52:38 UTC

It will be interesting to see how both the abortion bill and this blackface deal will affect the Virginia state legislature elections, which are in November of this year, 2019.

2019-02-03 08:53:37 UTC

And over 80% of people are tired of this game weighing simple things as racist or not with the loosest criteria.

2019-02-03 09:00:02 UTC

Doesn't take a big brain to see the difference between tasteless and racist. I'd wager most people dont give a shit about blackface or dressing up as a klansman for Halloween. To their friends and Twitter followers they might pretend to he bothered by it.

2019-02-03 09:03:43 UTC

On a side note, Virginia is such an interesting state electorally. It's southern, but goes at least 53% Democrat in every statewide election. It's 65% White and 20% Black, but there's a lot of college-grad Whites who vote Dem + gov employees. The state is still winnable for Republicans, but will take work if it's desired.

2019-02-03 09:09:32 UTC

I’d be pretty shocked by anyone I know dressing up as a Klansman for Halloween.

2019-02-03 09:10:32 UTC

I'd do it for laughs if it weren't such a big social suicide to do so
