not that they ever let me drive them alone lol
I didn't even get my license until I was 18
@Jacob you can scoop a decent, safe and reliable (ish) car for under 2k if you look hard enough.
@fgtveassassin lmao I got mine even later
@Papa Pizzagate I already have an offer for 500
from an IE member who I trust a decent amount and who can help me work on it
my finances are too screwed right now to buy anything over 500
Only thing about getting a cheap car is it'll probably nickel and dime you to the point you might as well have shelled out the extra 2-3k
but I'm tired of breaking my back to buy groceries
Bike with a basket
Bike and use coupons
Ibotta and other apps are great
My point was less about your specific vehicle and more about "rich kids who got a car at 16". You hardly have to be "rich" to afford a reliable beater.
that's barely gonna save me any time, I have to spend money on the bike and basket, I still can only take what fits into a backpack, and I would only have access to whichever stores are close by @fgtveassassin
@The Eternal Anglo I guarantee you, I'm already using any discount I can get
I'll eat expired food off the clearance rack
@Papa Pizzagate I guess. Though I imagine your parents would still have to help you a lot with the cost at that age.
I'll stand by my earlier advice
Buy 80 liter ruck
backpack
haha I'm trying *not* to continue wrecking my back
I already have a good offer for a car, that's not an issue
Dec 2016 vs February 2019
@Jacob if you work 20 hours a week for 6 mos for $5 an hour as a 16 year old you can easily afford a car, insurance and gas for a year.
wait a second did @Nemets just suggest me to but a car without doors? lmao
He's recommending an R or S title.
huh, I guess you're right
I personally wouldn't have found it worth it at that age to get a job just to spend it all on a car, but I mean I guess it depends what your priorities are
Jeeps sometimes have no doors
@Papa Pizzagate niBBa literally said "you can remove the doors if they don't close" 😂 😂 😂
lmao I already said I already have an offer
500 for something that actually runs and the person selling it can help me fix it is as good as I'll get
I know nothing about cars so I'm definitely not getting something out of a junkyard
@Jacob Cars are not expensive if decently maintained, and depending on what car you're buying with what issues. It can vary. Good driving practice can save you a lot on gas, and using discounts or going to the junk yard to buy parts will also save you a lot of money for repair
Generally however, if your choice is primarily based on money conservation instead of convenience, I would say a bike is still far cheaper than buying the cheapest car, due to maintenance and gas. IMO. If your travels will be equal regardless of using a bike, or vehicle, I would say bike.
But cars are also convenient
@The Eternal Anglo Can't advocate that.
If he grew up driving a two-stroke around his property, that'd be one thing
but young homie has never even put his hands on a steering wheel.
