Does anyone know how to find cheaper car insurance? Cheapest I found so far is $94 a month

2019-02-16 05:24:14 UTC

If I was a boomer I wouldn't need cheaper car insurance

2019-02-16 05:24:32 UTC

The reason it's expensive is because I'm a very inexperienced driver

2019-02-16 05:25:02 UTC

You only technically need liability

2019-02-16 05:25:10 UTC

Just hope you don't hit anyone else

2019-02-16 05:25:28 UTC

I know

2019-02-16 05:25:40 UTC

$94 is the cheapest I've found for the state minimum

2019-02-16 05:26:21 UTC

Oh wow

2019-02-16 05:27:17 UTC

I think mine is only $65 a month, it could have been cheaper but I didn't have proof of how many/how long driving lessons I had

2019-02-16 05:27:32 UTC

lol they ask for that?

2019-02-16 05:27:55 UTC

They didn't really ask for it, more so it was offered

2019-02-16 05:28:18 UTC

@nord ya it's because I've never had a car

2019-02-16 05:28:33 UTC

I'm not one of those rich kids who got one at 16 lol

2019-02-16 05:29:38 UTC

I need to eventually get my own car, I'm really lucky my dad can use my grandmothers' pretty often but his car is in bad shape and he's put so much money into it he's done fixing things unless its dire

2019-02-16 05:30:00 UTC

Even if it was something dire, he'd probably just say F it and throw the thing out and look for a new one

2019-02-16 05:30:17 UTC

you have insurance but you don't have a car?

2019-02-16 05:30:38 UTC

I'm on my parent's insurance

2019-02-16 05:30:46 UTC

oh

2019-02-16 05:31:03 UTC

I guess I would have been screwed if I crashed one of my parents' cars then

2019-02-16 05:31:37 UTC

not that they ever let me drive them alone lol

2019-02-16 05:31:56 UTC

I didn't even get my license until I was 18

@Jacob you can scoop a decent, safe and reliable (ish) car for under 2k if you look hard enough.

2019-02-16 05:32:16 UTC

@fgtveassassin lmao I got mine even later

2019-02-16 05:32:24 UTC

@Papa Pizzagate I already have an offer for 500

2019-02-16 05:32:39 UTC

from an IE member who I trust a decent amount and who can help me work on it

2019-02-16 05:33:00 UTC

my finances are too screwed right now to buy anything over 500

2019-02-16 05:33:05 UTC

Only thing about getting a cheap car is it'll probably nickel and dime you to the point you might as well have shelled out the extra 2-3k

2019-02-16 05:33:14 UTC

but I'm tired of breaking my back to buy groceries

2019-02-16 05:33:33 UTC

Bike with a basket

2019-02-16 05:36:10 UTC

Bike and use coupons

2019-02-16 05:36:19 UTC

Ibotta and other apps are great

2019-02-16 05:36:20 UTC

My point was less about your specific vehicle and more about "rich kids who got a car at 16". You hardly have to be "rich" to afford a reliable beater.

2019-02-16 05:36:57 UTC

that's barely gonna save me any time, I have to spend money on the bike and basket, I still can only take what fits into a backpack, and I would only have access to whichever stores are close by @fgtveassassin

2019-02-16 05:37:09 UTC

@The Eternal Anglo I guarantee you, I'm already using any discount I can get

2019-02-16 05:37:34 UTC

I'll eat expired food off the clearance rack

2019-02-16 05:38:28 UTC

@Papa Pizzagate I guess. Though I imagine your parents would still have to help you a lot with the cost at that age.

2019-02-16 05:38:36 UTC

I'll stand by my earlier advice

2019-02-16 05:38:41 UTC

Buy 80 liter ruck

2019-02-16 05:39:01 UTC

what does "ruck" mean?
