@Sonic i have an idea where that new profile pic is from

2019-02-17 03:31:23 UTC

Oh is that so..?

2019-02-17 03:31:32 UTC

do you leave it flying

2019-02-17 03:32:20 UTC

When I'm there. It gets incredibly windy sometimes, so no, I don't leave it up permanently.

2019-02-17 03:49:01 UTC

I think I knew about IE in late 2016

2019-02-17 03:49:15 UTC

consider that I joined February 2017, and I remember thinking about it for a while

2019-02-17 03:49:28 UTC

That's the month I joined too.

2019-02-17 03:49:36 UTC

I wish I joined earlier so I could brag about joining in 2016

2019-02-17 03:49:47 UTC

Hey, it was valentines weekend. My 2 year anniversary!

2019-02-17 03:50:26 UTC

My account says February 1st

2019-02-17 03:50:47 UTC

idk if that refers to application date, or interview date, or what

2019-02-17 03:51:27 UTC

Yeah I submitted my application right around the 14th in 2017

2019-02-17 03:51:45 UTC

I joined IE around the same time I joined College Republicans

2019-02-17 03:51:54 UTC

and to think I was in both the whole time and the CRs had zero idea

2019-02-17 03:54:56 UTC

I applied about a week before my birthday and joined about a week after

2019-02-17 03:54:57 UTC

I joined IE when I heard the call for the best of the best.

2019-02-17 03:55:23 UTC

I said to myself: "that's me, I'll check it out."

2019-02-17 03:55:58 UTC

>tfw it's impossible to find computer science internships in Spokane 😩

2019-02-17 03:56:30 UTC

Intern as a TA for your CompSci teacher.

2019-02-17 03:56:46 UTC

don't you have to be, like, a really good student to be a TA?

2019-02-17 03:56:55 UTC

I doubt it.

2019-02-17 03:57:05 UTC

all my good grades are in public speaking

2019-02-17 03:57:06 UTC

Just be the guy they like.

2019-02-17 03:57:09 UTC

I wish that was my major

2019-02-17 03:57:18 UTC

I mean communications

2019-02-17 03:58:13 UTC

I mean not actually, because it probably pays nothing

2019-02-17 03:58:19 UTC

but I still wish I had a different major

2019-02-17 04:05:24 UTC

If your professors like you, they'd probably be happy to give you a TA job. My one friend was offered one for a class he never even took.

2019-02-17 04:05:43 UTC

15 years from now when your Comms major buddy is still in debt and you are deciding what car to buy I think you will understand lol.

2019-02-17 04:07:39 UTC

I won't be super rich or anything

2019-02-17 04:07:54 UTC

graduates of my school have pretty low incomes

2019-02-17 04:08:57 UTC

My actual smart friends found jobs that they can do without university and still make decent money

2019-02-17 04:09:27 UTC

I would highly recommend to younger people looking into that before deciding to go to university

2019-02-17 04:27:05 UTC

I feel like you talk about this every night, Jacob.

2019-02-17 04:28:37 UTC

ya you're right

2019-02-17 04:29:02 UTC

make sure to mention buying a car again

2019-02-17 04:29:47 UTC

"The average person who did x earns y"

oh okay, cool. Are you going to resign to being average or are you going to choose to live an extraordinary life?

2019-02-17 04:31:16 UTC

eh we could debate the validity of the statistics but I think you're right, I need to find something else to talk about

2019-02-17 04:31:53 UTC

You're clearly above average intelligence. You'll do fine if you're motivated.

2019-02-17 04:33:04 UTC

It's okay to be concerned about your future, but don't set yourself up with a career "predestination-ist" mindset. So dumb.

2019-02-17 04:33:52 UTC

@Jacob shoot for security before anything else is probably pretty sound advice. stay ambitious but be smart about it.
