American compact cars are just small cars not built around any limits for horsepower, displacement, topspeed, size etc.

I never understood why concept cars are so outlandish

@Jacob Many set the path, others have made it to market with revision.

Chevy volt was a concept car at one point for instance.

pontiac stinger is a good example of a ludicrous concept that never made it to market despite having some cool features.
