coding more to machine language

2019-08-29 14:14:08 UTC

No one claims a 100% accurate map. And I certainly didn’t. So that’s a straw man.

2019-08-29 14:14:24 UTC

Can you provide a verifiable measurement of curvature of the ground?

2019-08-29 14:14:30 UTC

are you saying that it's harder to code using machine code than C++ for example

2019-08-29 14:15:29 UTC

@Lampz I said that the images of the sun and Moon are sometimes distorted by the Earth's atmosphere, which can give the impression that both objects are in the sky when in reality they aren't. This isn't personification, thus is how atmospheric distortion works. Nor was I saying that the sun and Moon are just projections. Good lord.

2019-08-29 14:15:34 UTC

a flat map is horribly distorted, there's a reason why you need many smaller localized maps.
because the second you try to represent something bigger, it starts being extremely imprecise, you can have a way more accurate map using a globe.

2019-08-29 14:16:09 UTC

it's not a strawman, flat maps are monstrously distorted

2019-08-29 14:16:14 UTC

Why does the US geological survey use the AE map then?

2019-08-29 14:16:17 UTC

They don’t use Mercator.

2019-08-29 14:16:29 UTC

Who’s arguing maps?

2019-08-29 14:16:39 UTC

The globe doesn’t have an accurate map. All the land masses are distorted.

2019-08-29 14:16:47 UTC

That doesn’t prove anything at all.

2019-08-29 14:16:48 UTC
2019-08-29 14:16:52 UTC

Talk about reality please.

2019-08-29 14:16:55 UTC

Not maps. Not theories.

2019-08-29 14:17:01 UTC

Demonstrate something IN REALITY.

2019-08-29 14:17:28 UTC

@Ymir just... terrifying explain your sabs

2019-08-29 14:17:48 UTC

Hm?

2019-08-29 14:17:49 UTC

because in the US, AE is more accurate than mercator, but i can guaranty you that australia doesn't use the same map

2019-08-29 14:17:58 UTC

yes, a map is a representation of reality

2019-08-29 14:18:31 UTC
2019-08-29 14:18:38 UTC

@Deleted User You can learn a lot from older people.

2019-08-29 14:18:43 UTC

Yes

2019-08-29 14:19:02 UTC

@Ymir just... terrifying What coca cola mentality

2019-08-29 14:19:11 UTC

I'm not allowed to say.

2019-08-29 14:19:21 UTC

Or Coca Cola will sacrifice me to the devil.

2019-08-29 14:19:24 UTC

😱

2019-08-29 14:19:42 UTC

@Psyclone if you don't believe maps represent reality (to a degree), you're either denying them because they don't fit your narrative or don't understand what they are

2019-08-29 14:20:13 UTC

A depiction of the earth on paper is by no means necessarily a depiction of reality. No one claims a 100% accurate map. Not globe. Not flat. Where are you getting this from??

2019-08-29 14:20:27 UTC

Ahhh

2019-08-29 14:20:30 UTC

‘To a degree’

2019-08-29 14:20:33 UTC

There we go.

2019-08-29 14:20:39 UTC

Now you’re getting it.

2019-08-29 14:20:42 UTC

@Ymir just... terrifying I think you have mental issues 😮 😦

2019-08-29 14:20:52 UTC

We all do.

2019-08-29 14:20:59 UTC

So there is no 100% map

2019-08-29 14:21:00 UTC

I doubt he's getting it

2019-08-29 14:21:06 UTC

on a globe, the degree of accuracy can be pretty much the same everywhere.
on a flat map, the degree of accuracy gets worse the further away you are from the center

2019-08-29 14:21:07 UTC

So they’re a dead end for the purposes of this debate.

2019-08-29 14:21:30 UTC

Why can’t you demonstrate the globe in reality though?

2019-08-29 14:21:35 UTC

That should be easy.
