Ok..but taxes need to be thought of and imposed by some Entity to serve a goal, right? 😛

2020-09-22 11:44:50 UTC

here’s a question: how do you overcome moral relativistic counterarguments?

2020-09-22 11:45:30 UTC

@Yussuki ₪ high taxes and social reforms are hardly an innovation

2020-09-22 11:45:35 UTC

By arguing that objectivity doest not exist, since it is a mater of frame of reference ? is it ok ?

2020-09-22 11:46:04 UTC

the point is the people pay for those programs...if no one pays those high taxes then those programs fail

2020-09-22 11:46:38 UTC

> By arguing that objectivity doest not exist, since it is a mater of frame of reference ? is it ok ?
@Yussuki ₪ I meant the opposite lol

2020-09-22 11:46:39 UTC

Yes I agree 🥳

2020-09-22 11:46:55 UTC

like someone saying well that is what YOU think

2020-09-22 11:47:14 UTC

Oh I believe that is actually easier to debunk 😄

2020-09-22 11:47:22 UTC

I went on a date (kinda) and we talked about Warren Buffet

2020-09-22 11:47:38 UTC

and how he hardly spends his billions

2020-09-22 11:48:05 UTC

I said if I were in his position I would dedicate my time left to doing good

2020-09-22 11:48:07 UTC

I would ask that person the following: Than tell me with is the minimum common ground you are prepared to accept and lets discuss on that 🙂

2020-09-22 11:48:15 UTC

Interesting

2020-09-22 11:48:34 UTC

he, on the other hand, is obsessed with work. THAT is his happiness

2020-09-22 11:49:37 UTC

I said that’s a rather pointless existence (Camus’ existentialist positions aside lol)

2020-09-22 11:50:19 UTC

That is worth debating. Wow.

2020-09-22 11:50:51 UTC

Supposedly he plans to donate like 40 billion to the Gates foundation

2020-09-22 11:51:17 UTC

the generalization is wealth accumulation and the point of that

2020-09-22 11:51:39 UTC

There’s a real estate Mogul with a garage of cars worth $30,000,000

2020-09-22 11:51:51 UTC

I’m like...ok?

2020-09-22 11:52:24 UTC

enter arguments of materialism, psychological egoism etc

2020-09-22 11:53:11 UTC

You could argue for wealth accumumlation and ego also . You could argue both ways, but it depends on which argument you like more and accept 🙂

2020-09-22 11:53:54 UTC

Is hard to argue in such way NOT TO turn your partner into an enemy..

2020-09-22 11:54:06 UTC

I guess what I mean is...is there a point to owning 30,000,000 worth of cars?

2020-09-22 11:54:37 UTC

when the same wealth could have been used to help people and animals in dire need? 🤷🏻‍♂️

2020-09-22 11:55:09 UTC

excuse my idealism but I am partial to Plato lol

2020-09-22 11:56:46 UTC

the effect on the masses is to want the same thing...they focus on money and accumulation of wealth and then wonder why their lives lack fulfillment

2020-09-22 11:58:01 UTC

I was just on YouTube. Saw an ad for a documentary called Betting on Zero where a billionaire tries to short HerbalLife stock in order to expose that it’s a pyramid scheme that preys on the working class and savings

2020-09-22 11:59:24 UTC

I had a friend do some type of MLM...it’s amazing how much in denial he was in despite the fact that he lost money and never made any money

2020-09-22 12:00:39 UTC

> Is hard to argue in such way NOT TO turn your partner into an enemy..
@Yussuki ₪ I embrace disagreement since it leads to an opportunity to reconcile differences and reach a more generalizable view

2020-09-22 12:42:11 UTC

I perfectly agree 🥨

2020-09-22 13:40:31 UTC

cool but what are your thoughts?

2020-09-22 15:31:30 UTC

I totally agree with you I dont know what more to add.

2020-09-22 15:32:25 UTC

We've had a lot of cases like this in my country where ppl lost their homes to ponzi schemes and MLM.

2020-09-22 15:33:50 UTC

In my opinion, the fundamental layer that cascades to the surface amplifying and creating exponentially more problems in society is greed.

2020-09-22 15:34:05 UTC

@Ozymandias you transferred $30M to people who built cars.

2020-09-24 00:53:56 UTC

This is so insanely cool. It's a visualization of philosophers and their influence.

2020-09-24 14:44:46 UTC

How do we feel about weak vs strong differentiated citizenship in the USA? Do our overseas friends have anything like this?

2020-09-24 15:09:00 UTC

What is that?
