Going to take like 4 fucking months though
Nice
My recce rifle with bipod and suppressor is a hair over 13lbs, just under 12 without them
Ounces equal pounds. If you can cut weight without sacrificing utility, it's worth it no matter how strong you are.
A heavy 11.5 barrel weighs twice what a contoured one does
I mean yes. But build a rifle that is capable of fulfilling its role, then worry about weight.
My main carbine weighs 8.25lbs
Functionality is a given. I mean we don't congratulate people for not shitting their pants.
I kinda feel like stoner's design got bastardized. A rifle may be extremely good quality with a DD government barrel and a KAC quad rail, then maybe an elcan, PEQ, another flashlight, and so on. Then you have a 6 pound rifle except it's 10 pounds with a barrel that's half the length
Maybe not an elcan on a 10.3 but you get the point
Elcan on 10.3 is goon certified
Yes, but capabilities. An M16A2 can’t do half of the shit that a kitted out carbine can, fact.
Definitely has more capabilities but certain design aspects are regressive, mainly the barrel and rail. The attachments are gonna add weight regardless but some things seem to be contrary to the original philosophy for the sake of either politics or dumbass officers, usually both
Also god damn I wish I could afford an elcan spectre. I forgot they had the 1-4
I love the idea of a throw lever instead of zoom
I fucked with an elcan in a shoothouse for a few weeks
Definitely super cool, has some problems.
What are you implying is contrary to the original philosophy
The original philosophy was to have a lightweight yet still fairly powerful rifle that was easy to point, ergonomic, and wouldn't fatigue soldiers like its heavier predecessors. A few design decisions later on were pretty contrary to this, mainly the government profile barrel and the quad rail. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on the quad rail, that maybe they just weren't able to make an effective mounting system that involved cutting parts from a handguard shape like mlok instead of adding picatinny to it.
Quad rail is love. Quad rail is life.
We're starting to move back towards lightweight designs now that technology has progressed a bit. The military is just always the slowest to adopt
Hmm.
If you could pick one optic, no holds barred, to go with you to the end of the world, what would it be?
Assuming a general purpose rifle.
Last I saw https://tacticalmachining.com has 80%ers in stock for $35 each or $40 with the Safe/Fire engravings.
For my no holds barred end of the world optic, trjicon 4 power Acog
Aim point patrol redot with aim pot 3x magnifier. Have it on 2 of my rifles. Battery lasts longer than most on aim point
Check out the artwork on these 1911s
These are Auto Ordnance, under Kahr Arms

Anyone know what causes a failure to eject? Ar15, fires, but at times doesn't eject, causing a jam with the next round
There could be many reasons. The one I am familiar with is the extractor was worn out. The new unfired round would jam into the casing that was attempting to be ejected.
Its a new carrier group
I just lubed and cleaned it
I'll run it more and see whats going in
Nothing seems off
Roast me. Bought because .380 is one of the only calibers easily found where I’m at. Bought for 150
