For what it's worth I knew a high castiza Nicaraguan. Daughter of big wigs, her grandpa had to flee back and forth from Managua to Miami depending on regime. She had blue eyes and very fair with freckles, I'd call her white. But then again she came from the colonial elite and not representative of mestizos at all.
