Which led to constant strikes

2019-11-25 16:45:13 UTC

Did it? I heard arguments that railways were better back in the day.

Not in the 70s

Watch Only Fools and Horses

There are a lot of episodes where they take the piss out of Railway and Royal Mail strikes

Why do you think Thatcher went strsight for the Unions when she was elected?

Canada is trying to have its own Brexit at this point.

2019-11-27 22:56:33 UTC

@TheBritishGamer β€πŸ”‘ (Meh) I don't like either side, for different reasons.

2019-11-27 22:58:32 UTC

The Remain and Brexit camps are in their own kinds of denial.

2019-11-27 23:01:08 UTC

Remain lost the vote, yet they have no plan beyond 'stop Brexit', and think that a referendum that couldn't change the result somehow would. Ultimately their best bet is not blocking Brexit but campaigning to re-enter the EU.

2019-11-27 23:02:54 UTC

Brexit camp don't seem to get the economic reality that to be independent on the world stage requires an end to trade protectionism, meaning an end to agricultural subsidies, and major changes to the NHS to satisfy trade partners.

2019-11-27 23:06:22 UTC

The UK really aren't prepared to leave the EU as they haven't thought things through, so the first year post Brexit will be hell for the UK. After that, who knows...

2019-11-27 23:08:33 UTC

I know that India, the US, Australia & NZ, and all the others that the UK is looking to trade with will require agricultural and pharmaceutical access in any free trade deal.

2019-11-28 19:00:10 UTC

Why do I have a tag in brexit chat

2019-11-28 19:00:30 UTC

Everyone does

@NewRogernomics Both sides have people mwaning they have idiots

Some Remainers think the NHS (founded in 1948) was created by the EU

Some Brexiteers think Albania is part of the EU

2019-11-28 23:51:35 UTC

Ngl i've never ever heard of those statements as a brit

2019-11-29 00:01:07 UTC

I think brexit is catastrophic as a remainer, UK is at an all time debt post brexit and economists suggest the best way to kickstart is to loan money to reinvest into the economy to pay back in the long term since it is the government paying it back. London could potentially lose its global financial dominance with 300 firms already moved into europe > Primarily Frankfurt. Estimations have been Β£100 billion damage in the economy further plummeting our financial situation and on top of this the scottish independence further pushes down the GDP Β£200+ billion (although u could argue having less expenditure on scotland would save SOME money) I haven't even mentioned about northern ireland which would most likely join Ireland again. With the rise of China and India and other various emerging economies (indonesia) the UK just simply won't be able to keep up as a global influencer/power. Currently the EU is the 2nd largest economy behind USA totalling 18 trillion with stable bold projects to project itself out there. E.g - Galileo the satelite system specifically designed to counter USA GPS, a more accurate version. I don't think some people understand how important global trade is.. i study Human geography ontop of Politics and 1/3 of the global economy is via the flow of commodities or in other words products/ materials via trade.

2019-11-29 00:03:17 UTC

Not to mention the EU is the largest trade bloc in the world. - This is my point of view in Brexit, i tend to think on a global scale rather than locally.

2019-11-29 00:03:19 UTC

```The commercially funded public-service broadcaster invited leaders of all Britain’s main political parties to take part in the debate before Dec. 12’s election, but both Johnson and the leader of the Brexit Party, Nigel Farage, declined to attend.```
