I don't think i've ever heard a positive comment about the German language
*channel melts*
@AlphaUK I mean it's a passionate language
In your opinion* yea
Well as Germany being the major economical power of the EU and having Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Germany, and Austria being Mostly German speaking
It would make sense for it to be German
except that Switzerland isn't in the EU
It is In europe though
Which the EU has to consider every country that has influence
and Liechtenstein is a joke
it's like saying we should make Europe speak Dutch because we have Netherlands, Belgium and Luxemburg speaking Dutch lmfao
it started with the BeNeLux to begin with
and headquarters are in Brussels for that reason
None of those places matter
Only AMERICA matters
πΊπΈ π¦
German is the most common first language in Europe
nordic languages are similar to german
same with dutch
english to an extent
If you're unironically learning German as an additional language (not your first) in 2020, you're a bonafide Nazi
It's common that people speak main language + german
or that + english
German and English is similar
Due to the Anglo-Saxons being originally German
@Dr.Cosby ```Only AMERICA matters``` So the Monroe Doctrine? π
But Luxembourg has their own language
English is earlier to learn tho
"Luxembourgish" is just a bastard Dutch
like Flemish
it's like, Irish is a language but we all know it's a bastard English
But as German takes the cake on being 1st language it would make sense for it to be German
As no other English speaking country is in the eu
Yeah but we don't care
We want to keep our individuality
You can go ahead and boot the United States of Europe crap
Also if I have to consider every country that has influence, then because of NATO English would take the cake
Well, if English would be the best choice then you can say βHello United States of the Westβ
I love trump.

@Katze Miaulitzer I think one reason that English has been used so commonly as a general language is because of the amount of nations (mainly former colonies) that have English as a first, second or third language
