@GoldenGail3 what about chernobyl really though?

2019-07-25 21:29:21 UTC

like do you think driving in a car is safer than flying?

2019-07-25 21:29:53 UTC

many people might think that way, but the statistics show that the chances of injury or death from driving in a car are way higher than flying by air and i think that plays a big role into fears about nuclear energy

2019-07-25 21:30:02 UTC

people associate it with these undeniably horrible events

2019-07-25 21:30:09 UTC

but that skews their perception on it

2019-07-25 21:32:15 UTC

good read either way i think

2019-07-29 14:35:16 UTC

Nuclear is safe as fuck (as the article states)

2019-07-29 14:35:46 UTC

But yeah, it's all about perception

2019-07-29 14:44:39 UTC

USE THORIUM

2019-07-29 18:13:44 UTC

Nuclear energy is one of the safest methods of getting electricity

2019-07-29 18:14:35 UTC

The problem is with the method of getting energy from fission and the maintenance of the facilities

2019-07-29 18:15:14 UTC

Which raises concerns in some places

2019-07-29 18:15:15 UTC

GG @Boo, you just advanced to level 8!

2019-07-29 18:16:04 UTC

There is also the method of getting rid of nuclear waste

2019-07-29 18:16:27 UTC

And also precautions when something is about to go wrong

2019-07-29 18:18:11 UTC

But overall i can say that nuclear energy is one of the best ways of getting electricity

2019-07-29 18:19:27 UTC

And who knows maybe in a decade humanity will be able to do nuclear fusion with the yield of Q=10

2019-07-29 18:27:21 UTC

wrong

2019-07-29 18:31:34 UTC

climate change is REAL.

2019-07-29 18:38:14 UTC

If climate change is real then "climate-debate" is a huge fucking waste of energy and time. What about "climate change discussion" instead? Can we actually talk about real issues in the climate change era instead of indulging russian trollz and calling it a debate

2019-07-29 18:43:51 UTC

I think the channel is for discussing all things climate related. And believe it or not, there really are folks here who seem skeptical about the extent of human contributions to climate change...

2019-07-29 19:37:35 UTC

@Deleted User im confused, did someone say climate change isn't real here recently?

2019-07-29 19:37:47 UTC

supporting nuclear energy doesn't mean you dont believe in climate change

2019-07-29 19:37:53 UTC

quite the contrary i reckon

2019-07-29 19:38:49 UTC

nah i wasnt talking bout that

2019-07-30 13:22:55 UTC

`What the science says...
Theory, models and direct measurement confirm CO2 is currently the main driver of climate change.`

2019-07-30 13:23:03 UTC

that is an incorrect statement

2019-07-30 13:23:06 UTC

the science does not say this

2019-07-30 13:23:46 UTC

climate is multifaceted as is acknowledged in the science

2019-07-30 13:23:53 UTC

where do you think the rest of the conclusions in the article came from

2019-07-30 13:23:57 UTC

spoiler alert - climate science

2019-07-30 13:50:58 UTC

did you even read past that very first part of the page?

2019-07-30 13:51:41 UTC

While there are many drivers of climate, CO2 is the most dominant radiative forcing and is increasing faster than any other forcing.

Climate Myth...
CO2 is not the only driver of climate
CO2 is not the only driver of climate. There are a myriad of other radiative forcings that affect the planet's energy imbalance. Volcanoes, solar variations, clouds, methane, aerosols - these all change the way energy enters and/or leaves our climate.

2019-07-30 13:53:42 UTC

yes i did dear

2019-07-30 13:53:49 UTC

its not a myth

2019-07-30 13:53:56 UTC

did you even read the actual science

2019-07-30 13:54:18 UTC

the only myth here is the assumption that the science says CO2 is the main/only driver of climate

2019-07-30 13:54:25 UTC

that is simply a false assumption

2019-07-30 16:39:16 UTC

lol
