I think calling people a label instead of making a real assessment is kind of a cop-out
labels ruin everything
many of them are just buzzwords now
well yeah it's lost all meaning anymore... "racist" or "nazi" amounts to about as much as "they disagreed with one thing I said"
Blanketing people as being that is typically very lazy and doesn't do anything to further debate, regardless of whether you agree with a person's position or heavily disagree
When I debated holocaust deniers for instance I don't just say "fuck you you're an anti-semite", I deconstruct their arguments and explain my argument regarding the validity of their claims. Using swears and insults and whatnot doesn't further anything or persuade people to change their views, all it does is worsen the situation
Surprisingly the holocaust deniers i debated against were relatively civil
denying it even happened or do they just think the numbers were exaggerated
I've heard some of the arguments in passing... I don't blame people for wanting to investigate it further to be frank
"what is this weapon that was used to kill millions of people, how did its design work"
I don't think questioning that or anything in particular is wrong per se, but from my experience it's typically coincided with people wanting to use it as a justification to allow a holocaust to occur today or just a general form of anti-semitism.
i've heard both, but the people i actively debated denied it altogether.
I see... I have purely theological contentions with antisemitism
but that's for the other channel I suppose
I think fascism can be defined a bit more broadly
And predates gentile
Lool people who call trump fascist are stupid
Trump is literally a classical liberal
Thaaaats a pretty crazy idea
I guess what is considered "liberal" has shifted that far
Trump is at heart a fascist
How are you defining fascist here?
based on what though all you are doing is calling people names again
everything's shifted and it doesn't make sense
With Gentile's fascism most people can be fascist
I don’t think that’s quite accurate
oh my God it's God
That is, it’s too narrow and doesn’t take context appropriately
“Fascist, racist” you people are broken records for years
people ask what she means and she can't even say it
...right I mean these labels concretely and definitively, not as insults
just keep pedantically correcting people
So fascism is an authoritarian outcropping of conservatism
One sec, I’ll delve into that
"he's a fascist according to my own personal understanding of fascism lol"
"you guys are so dumb"
“And i mean that concretely and definitely”
A sort of communal recognition of the value of our human condition as the actor in achieving something. Basically it's a way to find a binding agent for us, and in my view that binding agent is culture, nationality, race, etc. But for maybe another person, it could be the human species as a whole. < fascism in my view
Those are just political schools of fascism. I don't think people understand the fact that America was created on classical liberalism, that's literally its core. Trump, being prideful in being an American, abides by the constitution and protects what classical liberalism strives for; freedom.
And yes, that does mean protecting the rights of speech for fringe groups.
This is what Antifa don't understand.
They're literally rallying against conservative groups who are classical liberals.
