wait do you think the wage gap exists
No.
No, it's been largely debunked, all three iterations of it
The first iteration being men and women in the same position have a pay difference between gender, the second being women are treated differently in the workplace therefore they are not promoted / given the same chances, and the third being that society from the very beginning raises girls to be docile and less competitive therefore society is at fault.
When you compare men and women in equivalent positions, they largely earn the same, depending on the industry, but it also goes both ways
idk what to believe in terms of the wage gap
different sources say diff things
The fact it, there is no large conspiracy to pay women less. If a company could get away with hiring only women who did their work just as well as the men but pay them less, every major company would be heavily female.
It's simple economics. Companies have to be profitable, so anything to increase those profit margins can and will be done.
The wage gap has been debunked many times
The problem with the wage gap is that it's misleading
It doesn't factor in many different things
why ignore
we should read
sure but those aren't the ones im talking abt
Yea Iām reading that and thinking a lot of it is unsubstantiated and opinion based. Also that stats they use are manipulated to reach a conclusion that is false.
Basically woman have never had it easier
number 7 is wrong
9 is wrong
10 is correct, but there are more men homeless than women
so it should just be ignored
11 is wrong
uh 12 is wrong
and 1 is not an issue
@ashnaa you're reading left-biased articles that should not be taken seriously
Back in Victorian times, when women did have lower pay, only women were hired in many jobs
So why does that not happen now?
Because glass ceiling and patriarchy <:ree:356316447548375070> screeching
Women don't have lower pay for the same jobs that's a myth
But there is a difference in average wages between men and women
And imo that's mostly just a relic of the patriarchal society we had in the past and will sort itself out in the next 10 or so years
As for stuff like maternity leave imo there should be a certain amount of paid parental leave available to a couple and whichever wants to take that leave can whether it's the mother or the father
That'd both stop descrimination against men in paternity leave being shorter than maternity leave
And that along with a shift in societal norms towards both parents taking part in the initial care of a child would stop that from affecting job prospects and pay of women more than it affects men
Obviously there is a difference between what men and women earn on average, because men and women are different. Equal, but they generally have different goals and ambition. If a woman doesn't enter a stem field on her own free will, but a man does, you cannot fairly compare their wages and go "See? Here's evidence of a patriarchal society!" and vice versa. @The Lemon
I'm saying the opposite though
