That was bad.
Like Adam Ruins Everything was bad, not the video.
```The panel also voted to include a controversial proposal allowing classroom teachers to carry guns in schools if they go through a selection process that would include background checks and training. Such a change would require the state Legislature’s approval.
Right now, school systems are allowed under a guardian program to arm certain school employees, such as security guards, administrators or librarians.``` Not what you'd expect. The vote was also 13-1 (not stated in the article, but easy to verify)
```“This was the most preventable school shooting that I’ve ever seen data on,” he [Ryan Petty, a commission member whose 14-year-old daughter Alaina was killed in the attack] said. “This kid was screaming for help by publishing his intentions.”```No disagreement there
```The commission didn’t take the step of recommending the most costly school safety improvements, such as metal detectors and bulletproof glass. Instead, the panel referred those expensive items to the Florida Department of Education’s Office of Safe Schools for further review.```Well we saw what they recommended.
As long as you keep leaving schools unguarded, psychos will keep seeing schools as easy targets.
A sign reading "1 in (Fill in blank) members of our school staff are armed with Concealed Carry Firearms. Have a nice day." would do a lot to reduce school shootings by it's self.
yeah tbh
like having the shells of security cameras in parking lots
like just the idea of it is enough to deter people
In case people haven't noticed, these "Mass Shootings" all target and happen in "Gun Free Zones" and most often in areas where legal possession of firearms by the general public is effectively barred.
"Ryan Petty, a commission member whose 14-year-old daughter Alaina was killed in the attack, said the initial focus should be on quick, low-cost improvements that could produce the biggest immediate gains, from increasing school security to making sure threats are taken seriously."
school security is a fucking joke in the SW
you can tell me to shut the fuck up when you spell your "job title" correctly
oof where is this from though, like link?
is that the original thing?
You can open the “history” link to see the earliest & most original available version of that webpage, @Mimi.
I feel we just need to stop producing handguns because of their high use in crime-related incidents.
Not take them away, stop producing
how about no
put violent criminals in cages. don't let them out.
not difficult.
why do we need more handguns in circulation, exactly? And yes, we need to do that as well. stricter, more harsh conditions in prison, longer sentences, capital punishment.
i need cheap handguns.
maybe you shouldn't tell people what they need.
Well for starters, you don't need multiple fucking handguns. Handguns are to be used for self defense, or in some cases recreational purposes (Usually I would advocate only for self-defense). How many handguns can you use in an appropriate and safe manner at once while defending yourself? One. We don't need more handguns put into circulation. responsible handgun owners will keep their guns clean and working, and really won't need an entire gun replaced. Look at countries with more restrictions on the types of guns you can own. They tend to have lower gun violence. Here in america it's not the same thing because while chicago, detroit, and all these places have strict gun laws, people can just go drive for a few hours and buy one across state lines.
if you're such a shitty, irresponsible gun owner that you need an entire handgun replaced there's a problem.
you don't need an internet connection
you can sort your business through the banks, apply for jobs on location, etc. etc. etc.
there are more handguns than people in the fucking US. We don't need to make more. If there's enough handguns to give to EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the US, there's plenty enough for the responsible gun owners to have at least one, and maybe get a replacement if you somehow fucking completely trash your own handgun or get it lost somehow.
tell me one good, actual reason, why we need more fucking handguns.
