like they literally treat their garbage men and people like that as second class citizens if i remember

2018-10-28 01:48:08 UTC

BE SALARYMAN!

2018-10-28 01:48:15 UTC

Think you mixing them up with china

2018-10-28 01:48:48 UTC

They do have shitty jobs though. Just never heard of their classist system.

2018-10-28 01:48:53 UTC

you sure? because china treats everyone as second class citizens if you are not part of the government lol

2018-10-28 01:49:06 UTC

the UK has a classist culture

2018-10-28 01:49:15 UTC

culture, not system

2018-10-28 01:49:32 UTC

I meant chinese. They the sort to say if you dont study, you become garbageman

2018-10-28 01:49:32 UTC

they are not literally second class citizens, they are just treated like that

2018-10-28 01:49:49 UTC

And I see alot of thay even in singapore and malaysi

2018-10-28 01:49:56 UTC

i think that might be a trend in asian countries

2018-10-28 01:50:02 UTC

like period

2018-10-28 01:50:20 UTC

part of that "get educated or you are failure" mentality found in a lot of them

2018-10-28 01:50:45 UTC

view things like farming and garbage collecting as bad.

2018-10-28 01:51:13 UTC

which i find very ironic, given that should either of those jobs just stop being done, things get very uncivilized very quickly

2018-10-28 01:51:16 UTC

Menial jobs ypu mean

2018-10-28 01:51:33 UTC

If they made farming more machine based

2018-10-28 01:51:52 UTC

like we could live with less CEOs, but farmers and garbage men?

2018-10-28 01:51:53 UTC

Or automated it and had you handle the machines that stigmas gona move elsewhere

2018-10-28 01:53:52 UTC

They just percieve those jobs as simple for the uneducated

2018-10-28 01:59:36 UTC

Anyway japan does a really good job at exporting their culture so it kinda feels silly to move there for it.

2018-10-28 02:00:51 UTC

I mean their work culture sucks so bad that their currently best selling works of fiction are either based in highschool, scifi/fantasy or isekai.

2018-10-28 02:01:56 UTC

I had a japanese exchange student who spent a month in nz who was shocked at how relaxed everyone was and dreaded going back to japan.

2018-10-28 02:05:05 UTC

yeah, my family did homestay alot and we mostly had asians (mostly korean).

all of them really didn't want to go back

2018-10-28 02:41:42 UTC

I see someone mentioned China. They have a very long historical struggle with religious institutions. That is why they are only 7% religious(last i checked). Vietnam is also an exception because many people are actually religious (or at least superstitious) but they have to practice it in secret due to harsh state laws

2018-10-28 02:42:39 UTC

China is the only one that doesn’t fit this pattern simply because of it’s exclusive history of religious conflict

2018-10-28 03:03:28 UTC

Um, what religious conflict?

2018-10-28 03:04:19 UTC

China never really developed a widespread internal religion as much as it did defining phiosophies

2018-10-28 03:04:46 UTC

Confucius, Lao Tse, Sun Tse, lot of teachers that had followings.

2018-10-28 03:04:56 UTC

I think he might mean the suppression of religion in China since the Communists?

2018-10-28 03:04:59 UTC

Buddhism came from the south and got some following

2018-10-28 03:05:50 UTC

Maybe not

2018-10-28 03:06:30 UTC

The Cultural Revolution and Great Leap Forward notwithstanding because everyone died during those, the CCP has permitted Christians to practice as long as it is the state approved version of Catholicism

2018-10-28 03:06:58 UTC

Likewise they permit Islam but not any flavor with influence from outside

2018-10-28 03:07:35 UTC

And they allow Tibet their religion under the Panchen Lama whom they control

2018-10-28 03:08:17 UTC

So again I'm not sure where the conflict comes from unless you consider their distaste for movements they cannot control

2018-10-28 03:08:36 UTC

That's...not really permitting it

2018-10-28 03:08:49 UTC

It's outlawing everything that's not some state religioin

2018-10-28 03:08:55 UTC

Such as evangelical missionaries with their liberal democracy leanings

2018-10-28 03:09:14 UTC

Tibet might be a different story, might be some history there

2018-10-28 03:09:30 UTC

The west is irrational when we expect China to be like us
